A week ago I noticed a dead thunderfly in my screen. It wasn't too much of a problem as it was right in one of the corners. This morning i noticed TWO new ones, moving around in there. One is right back, crawling around behind on the back of the LCD, while the other one is in between the layers of LCD, as opposed to the original dead one, which is on the top, between the screen and the LCD. How am I supposed to stop new ones coming in and, is there any way to get these ones out, without taking my screen apart? And is this a common thing that happens to lots of people? Thanks

Seriously, this has never happend to me before. But what I do know is that you should probably take it apart.
Preventing them from getting in? Well that's another story. You can't just close the ventilation holes right? They are there for a reason.

Thunder fly...

"Thrips (Order Thysanoptera) are tiny, slender insects with fringed wings (thus the scientific name, from the Greek thysanos (fringe) + pteron (wing)). Other common names for thrips include thunderflies, thunderbugs, storm flies, thunderblights, and corn lice. Thrips species feed on a large variety of sources both plant and animal by puncturing them and sucking up the contents. A large number of thrips species are considered pests, because they feed on plants with commercial value. Some species of thrips feed on other insects or mites and are considered beneficial, while some feed on fungal spores or pollen. So far around 5,000 species have been described. Thrips are generally tiny (1 mm long or less) and are not good flyers, although they can be carried long distances by the wind. In the right conditions, many species can exponentially increase in population size and form large swarms, making them an irritation to humans." Thank god we have wikipedia.

They should be easy to remove with the right tools and if you know what your doing. If you don't just go to a computer repair shop. There probably getting in through a gap. I'd find the gap and block it of after getting them out.

Sounds like you have a few computer bugs.

Sorry. Although on a side note the term computer bug came from about 1940, when insects would get into the machines and break them.

What were we talking about again? And what is a Thunderfly? I shall consult teh googlez.

Burn the filthy pests that dare defile thy sacred Monitor!(purges screen with promethium)

Seriously, you should at least get a technician or something to get those buggers out.

... Well people are always complaining there aren't enough original threads around here... I'd say take apart the screen and block the gaps. I'm not going to say how, because I just don't know.

I have that problem at work. They WERE crawling around, now they're all squished :p It's works monitor, not mine. So I don't care too much. But just thought I'd let you know you weren't the only one.
