I wish I was dumb enough to believe that Texas was fake, that way I could have a bit more faith in humanity.
A lot of the people making these claims have probably only ever experienced "snow" in small plastic baggies.
If we use Foucault's Pendulum or TimeCube as a perfect conspiracy theory, this is a 1/10 at best.

Is it just me or were conspiracy theorists from 20 years ago less annoying? Sure, you got people saying Bush was behind 9/11, but were otherwise normal, and the people going on about the space lizards weren't vicious. Nowdays they'll go after people that disagree with them with all the vitriol they can muster.
So people think it's plausible for even the US to manufacture enough fake snow to cover half a continent, let alone drop the air temperate to freezing over the same half a continent.
There's probable some overlap with people who believe the world is rimmed by a 80.000km long ice wall.
