Today, I was thinking about time travel and the wierd things someone could do with that power. So here is a little paradox I thought up. A man goes into the future and brings a guy back with him to the past. We will call the future man Future Bob. The man takes Future Bob to Past Bob, and tries to chop off there arms, then replace each persons arm with the others. But if the man choped off the past arm, the future arm would disapear on Future Bob. And if the man choped off Future Bob's arm and then the Past Bob's arm, it would make it impossable to chop off Future Bob's arm because it wouldn't be there in the first place. So this would either cause a time paradox, or the future arm would just disapear.

So here is my question. What good time paradoxes, or theories on time travel have you heard of, or made up? And don't say somthing like "Loser, time travel dosen't exist." I already know that it is impossable. (At least right now) *looks left and right*

Silly human perceiving non-linear events in a linear fashion. He clearly could not chop off his arms because he has arms meaning he failed.

If you go back in time and sing a famous song before it was made and the person who sings it hears it and copies it "Who wrote the song"

How is it a paradox if they are doing it with the intent of replacing each other's arms? It wouldn't (or at least shouldn't be an instantaneous action) because if they did go in with the intent of putting the other's arm back on then that arm would exist on the future person to be cut off. It would probably be more like back to the future where an event happens and unless it is amended it goes to the point of no return.

I won't say time travel doesn't exist. I will say that time doesn't exist. So if he went "back in time", into a realm that would obviously be a parallel dimension, and chopped off the arms, then they would both die, unless the man is a really good surgeon. If he is, then they would have new arms, and then nothing would happen except for some really sore muscles.

Oh, looking at time travel as more of a going to a diffrent dimension sort of thing.
Riiiighhhhht?

Do you mean because the future self already has arms you couldn't chop them off. That is one way to look at time travel. But I am looking at it where the future changes depending on what you do in the past.

But if you are thinking that the guy is choping his own arms off, then you are wrong.

The grandfather paradox always interested me (killing one of your ancestors). But I'd ask Rincewind.

Or Vimes.

It's been mostly provenish that time travel to the past is impossible, but to the future is entirely possible.

I suppose it depends entirely on which timelime you've egressed into on your travel to the past, and whether or not your traversal of the chronological path has disassociated you from cause and effect.

Gather all the paintings of Van Gogh, travel back in time, give Van Gogh all the paintings and tell in which years he has to act like he made them.
Van Gogh was a crappy painter who got his fame thanks to the paintings you gave him, but who painted the paintings?
Time Paradox!
Step into your time machine, travel 10 seconds back in time and then stop yourself from entering the time machine. Conclusion: You didn't enter the time machine because you entered the time machine... Time Paradox!
Place two monkeys in every corner of a square room facing the two monkeys in the next corner clockwise, how many monkeys can say they are looking at two monkeys?
None, monkeys can't talk, go back in time and kill one of yur ancestors, will you dissappear?
Time Paradox!
Anyway, every time paradox can be solved by the multiverse theory.
When you go back in time you il fo to a parallel dimension, which means your own dimension (dimension A in this case) will have no more "you's" and the dimension you travel to (dimension B in this case) will have two "you's". Kill your grandfather and the original "you" from dimension B will never exist, the Van Gogh problem: Van Gogh of dimesion A painted them, Van Gogh of dimension B would have been able to but you intervered.
The arm chopping problem: What you do to past Bob of dimension B will have on future Bob of dimension B (who doesn't exist yet) so it will have no affect on future Bob of dimension A.
Most scientist don't believe in time travelling but accept the multiverse theory as the only possible way of time travel.

Sort of. Time can't exist, or else we'd all die immediately. So any instance of time travel must be a mistaken person traveling to a parallel (or sloping) dimension.

A dad grabs his son, goes back in time, finds his grandfather, and stabs him to death with the son.

More like you have a voice booming saying 'YOU'VE CREATED A TIME PARADOX!' then the world fades away to a GAME OVER screen.
