What do you prefer? Personally I was always a spaghetti guy and wasn't fussed on beans, but I grew to like them more.

From a can? Beans, easily. Good and filling on their own, available in different varieties, and can be used to make other things.

Beans, tinned spaghetti is grim. Make up a bolognese if you want spaghetti. Bolognese literally cooking 101. It takes about 15 mins.

Beans.

Tinned spaghetti is foul compared to fresh spaghetti, but tinned beans can actually be nice if you cook them with some fried onion, add a few herbs and a bit of Worcester sauce or balsamic vinegar.

I think I'd rather go hungry than eat tinned spaghetti, but beans are a good base to make something else with, beans & onion is a nice complement to many basic meals, and beans, onion and bacon is a passable meal by itself if you've nothing else to hand.

Beans are incredible, even canned. Especially canned. They got that metallic tinge and come in so many flavors. So versatile.

Besides, I wouldn't respect myself if I didn't cook my own spaghetti...

I like canned pasta alright, but most of the time if I'm making cheap noodles it's gonna be ramen because that's a fraction of the cost, and goes great with hot sauce and chunks of whatever leftover meat you've got in the fridge.

Tinned beans, as others have said, are quite filling on their own and come in lots of tasty varieties.

I'd totally go with beans. I just find when I use beans they're never a real central part of the dish so I can get away with using cheap canned beans.

well, if you really want to peg someone up the side of the head with a well-thrown can, you can't go wrong with the canned beans. The container just has more heft.

Oh dear lord, you mean for EATING?!?!? Neither. Oh, that's just gross. I mean if I were in a starvation situation, maybe (just maybe) I could stomach some canned baked beans. But outside of that scenario. . . . heavens no.

Beans, canned pasta is foul. If you want cheap pasta you buy it dry, add ketchup if you want lazy, no work tomato sauce.

I'm actually quite fond of canned baked beans and bacon, heat up the beans, fry some bacon, tasty lazy meal.

Tinned beans, for many of the reasons others have said.

Though I have to be honest and admit that I used to love tinned pasta shapes! I'd probably buy them now if I remembered they were a thing whenever I go food shopping.

Phew, I've been off the forums for over a week and I feel this is this the optimal thread to come back on with.

If we are talking about cans of baked beans, then they would win every time for me.

Perhaps if I were feeling truly badass, then I would have it cold, out the can, like Rorschach.

However, we could open a whole new can of worms, if we throw alphabetti spaghetti into the mix.

Beans beans beans. It's all I have. Seriously. If you saw my cupboard all you will see are cans of beans. I don't know why I have that many. I just do. But beans go well with pretty much everything. Tinned spaghetti is really nice, too though. I really want some now. Tinned spaghetti on toast sounds like a right treat.

I'm with you there. It even sounds funnier to say.

OT: Yes, it's beans. Tinned spaghetti is tolerable enough on toast, but beans are better, you can have them with breakfast, lunch or dinner and they make a more satisfying wet slapping noise when you get bored and fling them at the wall.

And here I was, thinking about what to have for dinner. I think I'll have spaghetti on toast. Thank you sir.
