So yeah, I'm pretty tired of games being filtered through a grey/brown color scheme (mainly because I've been limiting myself to FPS titles lately). So for my 500th post, here's me asking you to bring forth your favorite games that aesthetically don't look like a toilet in the Fallout wasteland!

I'm going to with Homeworld (yes, I can't stop yapping about this game, because I'm going through a mourning period since I can't run it on Windows 7...). This was the first title I saw, back in 1999, where the outer space wasn't just an endless dark void. Instead, they really played around with colors when making the maps.

Edit: Okay, I should've come up with better examples...

Now, your turn.

I still replay Okami for the sole purpose of enjoying the art style.

Absolutely stunning.

Katamari Damacy.
Oh and Mirrors Edge for good measure.
Now I play the waiting game...

Brutal Legend - I mean, just look at this:

And tell me that isn't effing awesome. And that's just a typical mundane screenshot. I haven't even started on the chrome volcanoes yet...

Monday Night Combat, at the moment.
This is in no way on the all time list, but as of right now, it is fantastic.

That was actually one of the things I always loved about the Dead Rising games was that they're actually pretty colorful, especially for zombie games.

The Halo games have their moments of color too, as does Borderlands. And if you're in the mood for a full blown color orgasm, you could always give Viva Pinata a shot.

I loved Mirror's edge for its visual style. Also honorable mention to Enslaved, who says post apocalypse has to be grey.

Uncharted was G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S, Just Cause in second place, that game is beautiful.

The Serious Sam games. Although III looks like it will be brown, and realistic. To be fair, The First Encounter was brown. But it was set in Egypt, and it did have very green areas as well (oasis level).

I'm fine with brown-grit shooters, but I absolutely adore Mirror's Edge for contrasting the prevalent sterile whiteness against warm and cool colors.

I don't really play any brown shooters... Actually, Mass Effect is about the only shooter I ever play any more. Most of my games are quite colorful. The only two games I can think of that I really enjoy and are brown in palette would be Machinarium and Shadow of the Colossus. But if we're talking about truly vibrant palettes, I think Beyond Good & Evil has quite a nice palette. Castle Crashers has quite the myriad of colours as well, and I usually play it (again and again) for some mindless, colourful fun.

Agh, I'm gonna go play JC2 right now. I love just running through the jungles, I know they're all copypasta, but they still look awesome!

OT: World of Warcraft, it has its (some gamebreaking) flaws, art style certainly isn't one.. for me at least.
