Titan Quest is one of the old school ARPGs along the like of Diablo. The first game came out nearly 20 years ago and certainly doesn't hold up the same way Diablo 2 does. Last year THW revealed Titan Quest 2, which looked clearly updated and more in line with what you'd expect from a modern Diablo-clone.

Today the Titan Quest 2 early access started and after 5 hours of play, I have beaten it. There is only 1 act available now and no end game, it feels more like a demo than early access so it's kind of disappointing in that aspect. However it's 24 bucks right now, where once it releases it'll be 50, so worse case is i got it at half price.

Even though there isn't much here, what is here is pretty good. However TQ2 isn't doing anything to compete with the likes of Path of Exile 2 or even Diablo 4. The game is a slow paced brutal feeling ARPG with very shallow depth. The ability to make builds for your character is kind of limited right now, there are only 4 classes of which your character gets to pick two classes and can mix and match abilities as you level. There is some build potential here but it's very simple and easy to understand which might be what they're trying to do.

Where POE is extremely complicated, TQ2 seems to be going to opposite way and it's very straightforward and simple. Despite that the combat feels good, and the game feels good to play, it might not have a bunch of crazy mechanical complexity, it does have a solid and fun core gameplay loop and gear progression feels good.

Not much to say beyond that because there isn't a lot available yet. But it's looking promising to end up being pretty decent.
