They ALWAYS get the South African accents wrong. Always. Most foreigners don't seem to realise that native english speakers accents and Afrikaans accents are two different things, so it always winds up being some sort of mash-up.

If it's anything like Daphne's accent, it's not cockney. She does a fair (YMMV) impersonation of a mildly Mancunian accent, the character supposedly being born and raised there.

I was wondering because I am pretty sure the demoman's Scottish dialect is REALLY off, but I don't find it particularly offensive because all of the characters are intentional cartoonish representation or their respective regions.

TBF I think all of the dialects, including the Scout's, are horrible over-exaggerations.

The Cockney Sparrers in Killing Floor are hilarious, but they're pretty damn accurate.

I don't think there's even been a Middle England accent anywhere in gaming history though - could be wrong.

Shaun in Assassin's Creed has a Loughborough accent, I do believe.

Yeah the guy who plays him is a West Country chap, definitely not from Loughborough. I've never heard anyone with a Leicester accent in a game or film, which is a rather nice because the Leicester accent is a form of aural torture...

I don't know. Just, normal middle class english? I did notice a hint of Australian once I knew better but even then it sounded like a mix of the two to me.

I generally hate hearing American actors trying to put on an English accent. Usually it sounds so stereotypical and forced. You can always tell they're putting it on. It sounds like they've never actually met an English person before. It's not always true though, like the guy who does the voice of Moe in The Simpsons. His voice in Spinal Tap is spot on.

The actress herself is from London, but her character is most definitely supposed to be from Manchester.

Not a movie but TV series, Angel and Buffy have VERY English accents, like seriously British!

People from Jack the rippers days would have thought there accent was too British. Just look at Wesley Windem Price when he first appears in Buffy ... Good lord, all he needed was a monocle, a top hat, a crumpet in one hand and a cuppa tea in a china cup in the other to be more British!

Then there is one potential slayer who comes along who has another comical British accent from a previous century to Wesley,it's rather absurd!

Americans trying to use any accent other than their own alwasy fails. Then again, americans are so smug (for no reason) that they somehow believe, despite how young their country is, that their accent is...not an accent...that it is a 'normal' accent...how does that even make sense?

Hey now don't put all Americans down, this view of our superiority comes from after WW2 when most countries thought of us as one of the most important super powers, and being a young and naive nation, we held on to that for dear life, these days though that superiority feeling is quickly disappearing, mostly among the 18-29 year olds, I saw a study earlier today that said 18% of that demographic thinks the USA is the best country, the problem is with the older generations, who have more of a voice, also keep in mind that most people below 18 (and of course above it but not as much) are just jerks who make fun of every country for no real reason, but they still don't really think America is best, they just make fun of the other countries

I don't remember hearing any accents that weren't accurate or a joke. Some attempts at English accents by Americans are pretty laughable though.

I'm Scottish, and I find the demoman's voice to be hilarious. Yes, maybe it's an exaggeration, but that's what the TF2 characters are built on. exaggerations and stereotypes. And I love it. I wouldn't even say that it's terribly inaccurate to be honest, sure, most people here don't talk like that, but there are a few.

So, in short no, stuff like that doesn't offend me, I find it really funny. What does annoy me is americanisms like "I could care less" which, make no sense. But that belongs in a different thread.

Canadian Tends to be hilariously skewed towards everyone sounding like they're from Newfoundland. Imagine every single person from 'merica sounding like they were from Alabama.

British maybe, but not Scottish. Nonetheless, I wasn't too bothered by his accent in Star Trek. I've certainly heard worse. What was that game someone posted a video of somewhere in this thread? Oh yeh, Hydrophobia. There was a pretty bad Scottish accent in that.
