At 6 PM where I live the servers will be live for the Official Classic World of Warcraft.

We finally have it. Legacy Servers. After 15-ish years since WOW's launch. And I hope this also will make other legacy MMOs to their own.

Everquest did it first and people loved it, probably.

Wow Classic is gonna have it's audience. But I think a lot of people are going to find out they don't have the time to get very far in Classic now that jobs, families, and adulting is more of a thing in people's lives 15 years later. Sure you can play it casually, but you might be frustrated not being able to experience all the things you did before (high warlord, Raiding, Gates of AQ, etc) So it you aren't hoping to finally become a scarab lord, then yeah.

Unless your job is streaming, or you aren't holding your expectations too high, people will have fun. But i'd imagine the hype will drop away pretty quickly.

The heck is Legacy WOW?
Legacy Servers I.E. playng the game as it was in a certain patch.

Here we are playing WOW as it was when it released. The Old gameplay rules, the old content that was avaliable, etc.

They whined for it for years, now they have it. Now let's see if gear e-peening and waiting hours for AQ40/Naxx40 raids proves to be worth the effort.

Well the reason this was made in the first place is because a fan run server of classic wow was so popular that blizzard has to come in and shut the thing down. So I think odds are pretty good there'll be an audience for it.

Personally I started playing in BC and from what I heard the game was janky, encounter seemed to be very simple and the only thing stopping everyone from completing it was the gear and crazy long run back. The only things I could be somewhat interested in would be to go back to old style mob encounter, where you had to cycle CC instead of just tanking everything no problem.

Also, where the heck is warcraft 3 remaster blizzard? The year is almost over!

Whatever, just wash your hands.
I wonder if this is before or after the patch that fixed the warriors miss %. That was such a pain in the ass at launch. Oh well, I guess it doesn't really matter since I'm never giving blizzard money again.

And I stand by what I said all this time. People THINK they want it, and it does sound appealing at first glance, but most of them will find they won't have that attitude for long. They'll be reminded about the shitty parts in time and the gild will rub off.

I am pretty excited. I mainly just want a big open world RPG adventure to go on with my friends, and the modern game doesn't really offer that anymore. Whether I really invest in the endgame or not isn't really a big concern at the moment, but if I find I am really enjoying myself I may go for it. We'll see.

Yeah, they'd look a like bit silly if the original one they'd moved on from ages ago was really popular. But, if it brings in more than it costs by a suitable margin, it's a win.

Here's a fun mental exercise: If Blizzard had to pay me a nickel for every time someone drops out of a "classic" raid because of adult responsibility (kids, job, etc.), how long would it be before I had all of Blizzard's money?

Popularity was not why Blizzard shut down the private servers. It was because of intellectual property rights and management. They could have been cooler about it, done this a few years ago but in the end shutting down Nost and it?s ilk was the right thing to do.

That being said I hope everyone on Classic is having a wonderful time :)

According to this site Activision Blizzard has a net worth of $36.3 billion, if someone drops out of a raid every second and at a nickel a pop it would take you 23005 years to acquire all of Blizzards money. For you to do it in your lifetime, assuming you live another 50 years, there need to be 460 drop outs per second.

According to Wikipedia WoW's peak was 12 million subscribers in 2010, if they were all playing simultaneously each and every one of them would need to drop out and rejoin a raid 60500 times for you to get all of Blizzard's money.
