I'm not the best sniper, but I actually think my favorite game to snipe in was Army Men: Sarge's Heroes, but mainly just because of the maps.
It was always fun shooting one of my brothers from the wall mounted toilet paper roll. They never knew what hit em... until they started screen watching.

MW1 was a fun game to snipe when playing certain maps. "All Ghillied Up" was a brilliant mission as well.
MW2 not quite as entertaining for me, the guns just arent as fun for some reason and I dont know the maps well enough yet
Far Cry 2 was a fun one as it gave you assassination missions or simply choosing to ambush a checkpoint in your own way and planning the most efficient way to kill everyone quickly. That combined with the bolt action rifle only being reloaded when you unscope added pace to it. Also I think far cry 2 has some of the best sound effects for weapons ever. I get a kick everytime I fire the sniper rifle in that game

thats a nice list of games. personally, i love sniping. i even have the red vs blue t-shirt that says, 'its a legitimate strategy', with a picture of a sniper rifle in a tent next to a fire.

I find the battlefields series is the best, also if "Sniper elite" is that one where you have to shoot a a tanks fuel tank, and where you spend almost the whole time moving rather than camping, then it's not only unrealistic but also pretty low quality
Definitely the original Unreal Tournament. Far Cry 2 is fun, cause the A.I is so good. I've seen people scrambling for cover, assuming I was on the other side of the camp. It's hilarious to see someone peek over a barrier, then shoot them in the back of the head. Borderlands, not revolutionary in any way, but the mechanics are good. And setting people on fire never gets old. And, of course, Modern Warfare 1 and 2. I can't give you ten though.
I was one of the few people who liked far cry 2 but I found the sniping to be particularly fun in that game because of the AI, physics and open world environments, although it was a bit too easy as if you find a good sniping point, you can take out any of the enemies before they get within shooting range and the only real challenge was finding the other snipers and survivors
It was twice as fun when you set the entire base on fire with some well placed shots from a flare gun as it kills hiding enemies and blocks up escape routes

For me, Sniper elite is the best one, Sniper: the art of victory is alright as is Marine Sharpshooter 3. Newer games that I enjoy sniping on are rainbow 6 vegas 2 and CoD4 + MW2

Battlefield games are great for sniping, asides from 2142.
Infinite spots to hide in and relies on outsmarting the other sniper. Not twitch aiming from 20 feet away.

Far Cry 2 is great for sniping.
Shooting a guy in the kneecap, waiting for his mate to come out and pick him up, then shooting them both. Priceless.
Or blowing up an entire camp from half a mile away with a few well places shots to conveniently positioned fuel tanks and such
Crysis also had a fun sniper rifle. Just the noise it made was enough to make me use it as much as I could.
MW2 has good sniping in the campaign/ spec ops, but on MP the maps are often to close-quarters for me to attempt it. I do have the ACOG for the M14 EBR now though, so I use it as a battle rifle, rather than a sniper

I'm going to give a heads up and say that I am probably the world's shittiest sniper with the exception of one game series:

Seriously, I can typically get a head shot or body shot, sometimes without even using the scope and I always get a perfect active reload. My friends used to say that I was a liability and seventeen bullets in my gun meant seventeen Locust without heads.
So while I can mention Fallout 3 or the Halo series at the end of the day there is only one for me.

I'm divine in TF2, or everyone else is crap. About the only thing that manages to kill me is spies. and I usually have a 25:1 KD on f.ex 2fort

1)Black Hawk Down-PC
Sniping on maps that have NO LIMITS is a dream, and using the MCRT.300 Tactical for kills over 1Kilometer feels GREAT.
2)Joint Ops-PC
For the same reason as BHD and both were made buy Novalogic. The difference here is the inclusion of vehicles, which made it easy to hop on a dirtbike and get a good mile or so from the action, then just pick off enemy players from that distance.
3)Perfect Dark-N64
To be honest I ONLY play most games like this in 1 hit kill mode, which means that using the Farsight to see and shoot through walls equates to complete ownage.
In conclusion, if you are a fan of sniping the fist two games I mentioned are really two of the best IMHO. If you have a friend playing the medic role and carrying an assault rifle you will own. Also since there is no range finder on the scope in joint ops (and you do need to actually adjust your scope for range in JO and BHD) a spotter using binoculars can be a huge asset. Together you will rule the battlefield.
