Is the 3DS going to come with a little camera like the DSi? If so, I am 100% sold, if not I am 99% sold.

imagine the Psycho Mantis scene from MGS1, but in 3D.
He reaches out his hands to me and screams "I can take a hold on your mind! I have a hold on your soul! You aren't ready, go back to completing Kid Icarus." Probably would be one the scariest moments ever.

Calumon: LET ME HEAR YOU *Hug*
it does better then just a lil camera, it comes with a 3d one so your pics can be in 3d also, or so I hear from someone who was at E3

Look at the bottom of the picture. It has two cameras.

Also, now that I think about it, the Psycho Mantis scene could work on the 3DS. Mantis could "disable" your slide pad and you would have to use the directional pad instead.

I am really hoping that this will live up to the sheer amount of positive hype it's garnered. If developers are showing this much interest early on, then the games we're going to get for it should be incredibly amazing. Let's just hope it gets decent third-party support early on.

Also, in the next PR statement, they will announce the 3DS's feature to dispense chocolate chip cookies on a regular basis. (3DS Oven sold separately).
Over 70 titles have been announced to be in development for the 3DS, most of which come from third-party developers. [http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/15/heres-the-list-of-every-3ds-game-in-development/] Decent enough for you?

Also, considering how much technology the 3DS already carries, I wouldn't be suprised if it will end up doing what Yahtzee was hoping Oblivion would do and have "the most perfect interface ever devised and dispense milk and cookies while cooing gentle reassurances in a soft motherly voice".

The 3ds seems like it will work because its a DS. However i am a little tired of seeing new models of the same machine with udpates. Granted this one seems to have the biggest update, but it is still a gimmik to me. i wish that people would just grind out a single machine for as long as possible. If you dont think it will be good enough, dont put it on the market. Nintendo seems to be trying to improve something that i feel works fine.
...this isn't the DS. That's like saying the Game Boy Advance was just the Game Boy Color. It's completely new hardware.
I admit that it's new hardware I just feel that the market for the DS is still going strong and I feel that this new renovation is not entirely nessecary. Last i checked the DS was still reffered to as printing money

The DS is still doing well, there is no denying that. However, the DS has also started to encounter significant problems. Not only is the DS reaching the limits of it's technological capabilities, piracy has become very rampant on the DS. Beacuse of this, the DS has been steadily losing third-party support. On top of that, thanks to it's more advanced technology, the PSP has started to regain momentum in recent times and a great deal of new titles are being developed for the platform. This is not even mentioning the new iPhone gaming market which some think will be an important contender in the future.

Overall, the DS has enjoyed a very long lifecycle. Infact, aside from the original Game Boy, it has existed longer then any other handheld. Besides, it's not like those 130 million DS's are going to disappear overnight; we can expect new games to come out for the platform for at least another year or two (especially since the 3DS has backwards compatibility). But considering that the situation on the handheld market is switching against Nintendo's dominance, it is definitely about time they released a successor.

Decent, as in the games released are actually good, too. Even though a lot of the developers have good track records (like Atlus and Level-5), some of those titles already seem like shovelware (Martha Stewart and Carnival Games IN 3D!! [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ptitlekt6mtovm4vne?from=Main.RecycledINSPACE]). Right now, I'm worried about a matter of quality, not quantity.

The list includes a fair number of well-known franchises. So while I understand your concern, I would still say that the early support for the platform is more than "decent".

I know, but we still don't know if developers will treat these like their previous counterparts, or if it'll go the way of 3D movies and use 3D and then blatantly show it off. Track records or not, only time is going to tell if the titles will be good.

I hope they can do something about the piracy, I hate it when someone says they love a game by a smaller dev, then I see they're using an R4

I've heard they may implement a digital copy function, where you can load a 3DS game onto the system memory. Might be tricky, as it sound really exploitable, but if they managed to do that, there would be really no reason to own an R4 outside of homebrew and piracy.

I'm guessing we'll be seeing lots of firmware updates and a more secure system overall in the 3DS.

But really guys, they're making a PERSONA game (and quite a few Shin Megami Tensei games actually) for 3DS :0, even if it's just a port of P4, that's awesome. I'm simply amazed at the support this system is getting, it's a guaranteed hit.

:S I'm getting flashbacks of the Wii launch. I hope they can produce more units to make the launch a bit less hellish.

As for price, I was thinking about.

Best case scenario, the system is $199, I'm defnitly buying it. BUt even if they had it up to $500, which it certainly likely won't hesistate to buy it, I'm that excited, Nintendo could honestly charge whatever they want.

I believe all the 3d naysayers will understand once they see the difference between Hyrule field in 2d and 3d.
