This list is in no particular order

Baccano

Cowboy Bebop

Spice and wolf

Macross Series (you can replace this with Robotech if you like, but i prefer the direction that macross has gone)

Berserk

Gunslinger Girl

Welcome to the NHK

School Rumble

The place promised in our earlier days (movie, if you ever get the chance watch it then spend the next few days contemplating it and its meaning)

Gurren Lagann

I hope this list helps you out with suggestions, above all else find the place promised in our earlier days its fantastic.

*I didn't include tri-gun because I have yet to watch it, and I don't know why if your asking.

Right... This is a big question but I'll have myself a go.
They're not in any kind of order, because you just can't make me do that:

Clannad (+ After Story)

Baccano!

FLCL

Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei

Bakemonogatari

Welcome to the NHK!

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

ToraDora!

Monster

Anything by Satoshi Kon (Yeah, this is kind of a cheat but I'm including Paranoia Agent, Perfect Blue, Tokyo Godfathers etc. all as one item)

Escaflowne
Birdy: The Mighty
Slayers
Digimon (seasons 1-3, fuck 4)
Sekirei

Darker than Black

I'm glad you took this route instead of the "Suggest me an anime" thread that I see at least once a week :p

I've watched well over ten anime series/movies, but I wouldn't actually reccomend all of them. Though my favourites out of what I've watched are:

Clannad & Clannad Afterstory

Ano Hana (Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai)

Angel Beats

Gosick

Eureka 7

K-ON!

Unlimited Blade Works (Though I'm a huge Fate Stay Night nut, series was pretty bad though)

Those are my favourites, which coincidentally went pretty much from most to least loved. Aside from these, some others I enjoyed are:

Seitokai no Ichizon

Summer Wars

ToraDora!

Those are my reccomendations, hope this helps you out on what to watch.

Heh, 8 of those are on my list of summer anime to watch. I watched 5 episodes of Berserk, but stopped because of school or something, I can't recall. I also watched 3 episodes of NHK with friends, but that was in the middle of the season, so I only barely knew what was going on, lol. And I've wanted to take the time to watch Gurren Lagann properly for a long while now.

I've also heard nothing but good things about FLCL and Baccano, so those are on my list as well :D

I am a major Hiyao Miyazaki fan. I often try to order his films into a "what's my favorite of all time list?" but constantly end of flip flopping. Those always at the top of my list are: Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away and, most recently, Ponyo. My top ten list would be littered with all of his films, and MAYBE I would save a spot for Full Metal Alchemist.

Bamboo Blade

Beck

Black Lagoon

Cowboy Bebop

Elfen Lied

Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood

K-On!

Trigun

Welcome to the N.H.K.

Wolf's Rain

Honorable mention goes to Monster. I have only read the mangas, but from what I saw the anime seems to be as close as you can get.

So was UBW. I watched it and the series before reading the VN and was completely lost. Pretty fights though and it's nice to see everyone in higher detail. It's a shame about the CGI dragons/dolphin's though...

Top ten would be standard Clannad, Gurren Laggan, Code Geass, etc but my personal favorites would be, in no particular order;
Bakemonogatari
Sora no Otoshimono
Zero no Tsukaima
Zakuro
Denpa Onna (Erio <3)
Toradora
Asobi ni Iku yo!
Baka to Test (I'd highly recommend this.)
Gurren Laggan

I swear, it's like I'm the only person on earth who didn't like Clannad. It wasn't bad or anything... I'm just a cruel, cold, heartless bastard. Who called every single plot point and resolution before it happened (teddy bear, anyone?). Then again, I still have yet to watch After Story. I plan on getting around to it sooner or later, but, eh. Also, you ninja'd me on those other three.

So yeah. These aren't numbered in how much I prefer them, just in the order they come to mind.
1. Baccano!
->Watch it in english. Trust me, watching it in Japanese just... Doesn't make sense. English dub was really good.
2. Black Lagoon
->Also watch it in english--it makes no difference either way, but the english cast for this anime was amazing. Especially for an anime.
3. Gurren Lagann
4. Outlaw Star
5. Durarara!!
6. New Getter Robo/Shin Getter '04
->US release was titled New Getter Robo, I just prefer to call it by its Japanese title.
7. FLCL
->You ever play Killer7? I often say Killer7 is the horror game equivalent of FLCL--incomprehensible mindfucks that you watch just for fun.
8. Turn A Gundam
->CENCHOOREE KURUH, MIRREEON KURUH~! (Nanana, nanana century color, nanana, nanana million color~! Fucking catchy songs, dammit!)
9. Cowboy Bebop
->Though I haven't seen that one in YEARS.
10. Hellsing
->The OVA one. Hellsing Ultimate, I think?

I own almost all of Miyazaki's movies, lol... I love Princess Mononoke to death, and would have included it in this list, but I kept my list to just series'

Interesting topic. Well I am trying for as much as possible to be objective here, so you'll have my guarantee on the utmost quality of story, characters, powers/fight scenes, graphics, soundtrack, production, classic scenes, dialogue and so forth, and all of them trying to fit in and combine as much as possible into one at once. After all, I joined just now specifically to answer in this topic.

I can't decide on a particular order, except #1 which probably has to have the best overall quality on all those things combined, that I EVER saw (and I saw plenty).

1. Cowboy Bebob: Stairway to Heaven (movie)
2. One Piece
3. Yu Yu Hakusho
4. Hunter x Hunter (original series, the OVAs were pretty bad)
5. Hellsing Ultimate OVA
6. Tengen-Toppa Gurren Laggan
7. FLCL
8. Dragonball (original series foremost, but you can count the others too if you want)
9. Neon Genesis Evangelion (series, End of Evangelion, Rebuild of Evangelion)
10. Code Geass (would have put this higher if I remembered what I wanted to say quicker)

And there you have it, full on win on everything. Granted, there are plenty of great movies that deserve mention, tho' I am a bit behind on watching actual anime movies, however I believe animes should take priority, because making a consistently good anime is harder than a movie, and good anime movies are often stand alone masterpieces.

Then again, I suppose plenty of the ones on that list aren't technically different since you left the anime scenes, but classic is as classic does. I never watch dubs so I can't vouch for them like that.

Also, if anyone dares to mention Naruto or Bleach, I will personally go over to where they live and gut them.

my question is who doesn't have cowboy bebop on there list and why?
They didn't have time, they had to blow this scene, get everybody and the stuff together...
