Didn't see a song you were hoping for in my last list? [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.259050-Top-Ten-Songs-From-Final-Fantasy] Don't lose hope yet! At the beginning of each list, I'll put honorable mentions that either got barely beaten out of a spot or that I just forgot about.
Note 1: Take caution, this thread is extremely opinion heavy. conflicting opinionsmay will occur.
Note 2: This includes the entire series, in case you were wondering, and recurring themes will be represented by their original iteration.
Hello again, I'm back a lot earlier than I expected with another list, this time counting down the top ten songs from the Metroid franchise. If you didn't know, the last Metroid is in captivity and the galaxy is at peace, so that gives me a bit of time to make these. This series is one of my favorites regarding the games, I mean, I've finished every game multiple times, except for the first one because it's really hard and didn't age well, and Hunters, because it sucked. I've even gone through the missions in Prime Pinball maybe half a dozen times.
Anyway, most of the soundtracks, including the Prime trilogy, are done by Nintendo regular Kenji Yamamoto. This guy is a genius, making us eargasm in games such as Punch-Out and Donkey Kong Country Returns. And again, if there's a notable remix out there, it'll be in a spoiler box at the bottom of the song's section.
Another note- I will not be putting any rock/metal remixes here. I don't like them. To me, the songs on this list are still enough about representing the franchise that orchestra and electronics always sound better. I'm also not really a fan of those kinds of rock or any metal whatsoever.
Number Ten (10):
"Prologue Intro Theme" from multiple, Super Metroid originally
When this played, you knew what you were getting into. It was a great introduction to the game, and showed how the series had just developed from its 8-bit days. The best version in my opinion is the remix form Brawl-
Number Nine (9):
"Emperor Ing Battle Part 2" from Metroid Prime 2: Echoes
This song took everything that was good about the game's soundtrack and put it in one epic final battle theme. It's one of those songs that gives you the feeling that this is the real final battle, and that you just have to destroy this one thing and you're done.
Number Eight (8):
"Title Theme" from Metroid
Emergency Order
Defeat the Metroid of the Planet Zebeth and destroy the Mother Brain the mechanical life vein
Galaxy Federal Police M510
Number Seven (7):
"Ridley's Theme" (Battle with Ridley) from multiple, Super Metroid originally
This is a classic. It's been featured in, if I'm not mistaken, every game since Super (except Prime 2), and with good reason. It's a great, fast-paced battle tune that fits the whole "leader of the space pirates" thing he has going on. I have no idea which version is the best, so I'll just put Meta Ridley from Prime-
Number Six (6):
"Kraid" from Metroid
Possibly the creepiest theme on here, this song showed that Nintendo could really deliver in the music department. As opposed to Norfair's simple, somewhat broken melody or the near nothingness from other areas, this song is great to listen to on its own and as accompaniment to the game. It was remixed in Super Smash Brothers Melee for the Brinstar Depths stage-
Number Five (5):
"The Tunnel" from Metroid II: Return of Samus
Just like Green Brinstar from Super, this song plays right when you start getting to the exploring, and it gets you so excited. I'm also impressed at how much they got through with the Game Boy's limitations, as it never really sounds grating like many other soundtracks did. When in areas that don't play this song, you're forced to listen to some generic ambience that probably makes me appreciate this song even more.
Number Four (4):
"Phendrana Drifts" from Metroid Prime
This one is just amazing. No song from any game has ever fit an ice level better than this. And when the percussion and choir come in at about 1:00, my head exploded with how good it was, when I played the game and when I just listened to that video. This piece is atmospheric and calming at the same time, and, like many of the songs I chose and will choose in later lists, stands on its own as a great song even outside the game.
Number Three (3):
"Sector 1 (SRX) SR388 Return Area" from Metroid Fusion
Alright, the best upload of this was from Youtube user SilvaGunner, widely known in the soundtrack uploading ring, but his account got suspended a while ago, which makes my job a lot harder. This video has a decent enough version, although it has some sounds from the menu at the beginning. Anyway, the first time I played Fusion and the intro started, I decided to progress through the text as slow as I could just to listen to this. It has that dark, foreboding tone but isn't just ambience, and it's probably the best piece to represent Fusion in this list, because honestly, I didn't really enjoy the rest of its soundtrack.
Number Two (2):
"Lower/Red Brinstar" from Super Metroid
Sorry about this, I try to limit myself to only two songs from a single game, but Super introduced a lot of recurring themes, so I'll let it slide this time.
After the upbeat, fast paced theme from Green Brinstar, this piece really made me feel uncomfortable, and a bit creeped out. It sounds watery, fitting the theme of the area and its neighbor, Maridia, and packs a ridiculous amount of atmosphere. Usually I don't enjoy more ambient music that much, but this one still has a great melody to go along with it. It was remixed as the Torvus Bog theme from Prime 2-
Number One (1):
"Credits/Menu Select" from Metroid Prime
God, I love this song. The moment I heard this I knew this was going to be an awesome game, and the game and the rest of the soundtrack both delivered. And honestly, I think the music from the next two Prime games really weren't up to the standard that this game set. Not that they weren't good, they just weren't as good. This song also plays during the credits, which I think it was only meant for, but they needed something to play during the menu select so they thought "Well, let's just stick the music from the credits in there." (Actually, that's probably as far from what actually happened as possible) But little did they know, this got me, and I'm sure a whole lot of other people, pumped to get started. Apparently the same happened to everyone I've talked to about it, as they all love it too.

Thanks again for reading, I'd appreciate some feedback, and remember, you can still suggest franchises for my later lists.

"To Zanarkand" from Final Fantasy X. As I said in the list, I only wanted to put one emotional piano piece, and this one was on there at first, but then I remembered the one from X-2, which I just liked better.
"Pulse de Chocobo" from Final Fantasy XIII. I honestly forgot about this one utnil this morning, otherwise it would've been on the list. I just love it. It's so jazzy and upbeat, and it's really the first time they've changed up the tune of the chocobo theme.
"The Man with the Machine Gun" from Final Fantasy VIII. The other battle theme, and definitely a different feel.
