Trailer: Home Alone Meets Cliffhanger in Big Game

Maybe Samuel L. Jackson should just stay away from planes for awhile...

The "New Globalism" of the movie business has meant, among other things, that preposterous action movies [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/escape-to-the-movies/8674-Dhoom-3] about rescuing the President of The United States from terrorists.

A UK/Finnish co-production that screened at last year's Toronto International Film Festival, [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/moviesandtv/12234-Best-Fall-Film-Festival-Movies] Big Game follows a rural Finnish teenager who, while undertaking his first solo hunting trip, discovers the President of The United States (Samuel Jackson) having crashed in the mountains following a terrorist attack on Air Force One. Together, they must survive the wilderness and escape from terrorists who are still aiming to bring the POTUS down.

The film, which has not yet secured an official U.S. release date, is the anticipated return to the world stage of Finnish director Jalmari Helander, who previously helmed the twisted killer Santa Claus monster flick Rare Exports. Take that, Leonidas! Finland just wiped its ass on your hunting trip anecdote!

Silly, just absolutely silly. People are going to think that Finns are much weirder than before.

As a Finn all I can say is thank GOD my country has fianlly started producing films I'm actually interested in watching. I swear, every year it's the same teenage flicks, same depressing dramas and the one detective series we have going on. I respected Rare Exports much more than I liked it, it was ambitious but didn't really use the evil Santa -premise to it's advantage as well as the shorts which the director had made before. This on the other hand seems much, much more focused and aware of what it wants to be.

Is it wrong that I'm actually really excited for this? Like, somehow, Samuel L. Jackson bonding with a Finnish kid while both of them run from terrorists while stranded in the middle of the woods.... This is somehow so awesome to me.

The director pretty much owns the "stupidly awesome" -idea, so I'd say your reaction is entirely justified.

Can someone enlighting me on the film "Rare Exports" if they are using that as one of the big deal in the trailer (never heard of it). Also I am only remotely interested cos Samuel Jackson is in it.

"I've had it with these motherfuckin Finnish on this motherfuckin' mountain!"

A killer Santa movie set in Finland, using some of the older Santa mythology as a jumping point. Pretty standard to be honest, but the idea is twisted enough and for a first time director the quality is pretty impressive. Honestly I feel that the director's earlier shorts using the same idea are much more interesting and funny: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMqMN9Bo0IE
