Looks good to me. Sounds like the protagonist is an older guy. Looking forward to seeing where Rockstar takes "veteran criminal trying to go clean".
It's a good transition from Niko Bellik. One was the traditional "coming to America" story that is part of the iconic immigrant culture of the US. This one appears to be the "breaking from the past" tale that many in the US are trying to do now in the middle of the recession.

Wait, it's not ALL of San Andreas? R*, I am disappoint. I hope it's not like GTA IV though, that's the factor of me buying it or not.

Los Santos? Just Los Santos? So I take it 6 will be in San Fierro, and 7 in Las Venturas?
Just go back to London already.

I liked GTA4, regardless of its serious nature. Then again, I liked the previous GTA games because they were fun and sometimes silly. So, yeah... guess I'll like this one too.

The voiceover is a male voice that describes the move out west as going "straight" and giving up the criminal life to settle down with a family.
Well fuck. I guess my hopes of this not being a boring game that takes itself way too fucking seriously are ruined then.
If you watch the trailer it seems that the protagonist seems to be talking crap. He's pretty much like "well I was going to do that, but then I realised I'd rather shoot shit up!" instead.

How about another GTA game set in Vice City? I would LOVE to see what happened to Tommy since Vice City ended quite abruptly.

The voiceover almost sounded like Ray Liotta, who ocied Tommy Vercetti in Vice City. All this talk about retiring from the life and what not would make sense, as he became the main drug lord of Vice City in the 80s, and so he "retires" to Los Santos to get away? That'd be pretty epic
I thought the same thing, though I didn't realize he voiced Tommy Vercetti.

I didn't think it sounded like him but that guy looking over the skyline looked like an older Tommy. But I don't think anyone from last gen will show up.

I have to say I'm kind of disappointed. It's not a retro style game; not a dealbreaker. But the biggest problem I have is that it's not San Andreas, just that first Island.
You never know. Even if they only kept you to Los Santos, that's still a decently-sized area. I wouldn't be terribly sad at all about that.

I am so thrilled to be going back to San Andreas. It doesn't even matter if it's not with Carl Johnson or family, though I'd love to see some nod to him, since he'd be somewhere around ... late thirties now?

Man, so hyped.
Some people have said that it is CJ in the Bill Cosby sweater in the trailer, I'll agree for now since you never really get a good look at the npc's face.
I dunno, man. CJ in a Cosby sweater? Even now I couldn't see that happening. Why the hell would he be walking randomly around Los Santos? He's a millionaire, with ties to the casinos and the Mountain Cloud Boys, Madd Dog's manager and a successful garage business in San Fierro.

Man, I really hope there's some nod to Woozie, too! And Cesar.
Also, doesn't he own a national fast food franchise? I think I remember seeing something like CJ's or Johnson's Soul Food (something that referenced CJ's name) on a sign in gta4's Liberty City.

What saddens me is that they're probably going to sell LS for $60 while the other islands will be dlc. And if they charged $20 for missions, I can't imagine how much they'll charge for an island. So I'm just going to wait for whatever goty version they eventually come out with.

The first trailer for GTA: San Andreas only showed Los Santos, they wouldn't show off the whole game in 1 trailer so there will prob be 2 more for the other places.

It's nice to see GTA have some color, looks like a return to form.

A few years to late though, Saints Row already stole my heart... Then again, who says I can't have both? :D

That's true, but at the same time it doesn't look like anything else is any less dull. I'm fine with it being mostly serious, I can be fine with serious games. It's just that GTA IV was extremely uninteresting for me.

I think I'm pretty done with GTA at this point. Other making the cities more "detailed" I feel like I've been playing a series of expansion packs for GTA 3 for the past 10 years. GTA IV was kinda okay, but I don't think I even finished it because I got soooo bored. I'd end up getting distracted sniping at passerbys simply to make my own fun and even that got boring. Eventually I got lost and the damned because I'm a Sons of Anarchy fan, and that was a little interesting, but it got real boring real fast. Like many, Saint's Row and Saint's Row 2 filled a much needed "FUN" space, whereas I don't think Saint's Row is entirely Just "wacky fun" compared to GTA.. I think both do similar things, but with different styles. GTA just turned the "let's make this a life simulator/second life with guns"... Not that I think one series is better over the other, just different. GTA has a long, powerful history of solid game play.. Saint's Row has had, what? Two games? So well.. take that for what it is.

What GTA needed to really get me interested in giving up my early adopter dollars instead of waiting for GTA V to hit the bargain bin is a change of pace, and by pace, I really mean location. I'm tired of Rockstar's graphics design group showing off how well they can recreate their home towns. What makes Assassin's creed so interesting is that it takes you to a different place and time. Saint's Row and Infamous (two other open world titles) kind of use make believe cities that are based on real world cities, but are creatively (read: fictionally) different enough to be a bit more exotic than the "New York City" reproductions in GTA. I'm not trying to bash GTA, please don't take that away from this. I just think they need to break out and do something different. Take it to some place different... Why can't we have GTA: Mexico City or GTA: Tokyo or GTA: Hong Kong? Give us something to explore, something different culturally and geographically.

You know, whatever happened to the freaking "THE GETAWAY" series? I LOVED The Getaway 1 (Not so much The Getaway 2. I think part of it was that it was set in London as opposed to New York City Recreation part 2.

Or why not make GTA on an ISLAND? GTA Hawaii? I don't know. Just.. anything different would be nice.

I don't know, I never played GTA IV. That would be pretty cool if he did, though.

so its actually GTA San Andreas 2.

With how they named all their games it seemed that GTA 3, 4, 5 and so forth are all supposed to take place in NYC

Los Santos? that's the name of the place? so if we translate it to English its The Saints? hmmm funny Saints Row pun or something?

still I never played too much San Andreas I only rented the game twice or thrice so this is good news for me. I hope we're able to find the Yeti this time around XD

Well, the whole of GTA has typically been a parody of American culture, London notwithstanding. I'd love to go to Tokyo or Hong Kong, though. Also, while I know it was more a gameplay issue, GTA: Vice City was technically an island romp (so was Saints Row and Saints Row 2). I'm sure they've considered other cities, but they might feel that new cities would alienate their playerbase, who have been clamoring for a return to San Andreas since it came out.

Los Santos came out in 2004, Saints Row didn't come out until 2006. You could more easily accuse Volition of taking the name than Rockstar.

The game looks visually appealing, but I fear the series mights start stagnating.
Why not a new place? If not, then why not use all of San Andreas instead of only Los Santos?
What I liked about the San Andreas setting was that it was so big that it made using aircraft feel necessary.
This news, in addition to GTA IV being unplayable for me on release, makes me believe that I'll probably wait for thorough patching to be done and a price drop before buying the game.
