They strike me as over-glorified Mercenaries like the first game had. Might be a little more useful than that, but meah. Nothing I could call unforeseen or terribly ground breaking.
EDIT: And by first I mean second as well.

Cool. Played a little of the first one and just kind of drifted off. I could probably get into this though.

So same as the D2 but different names? Lovely.
Now, you can customize their skills.
Anyways, it is no called Merc because of story reasons.
Merc imply they are in it for the money.

I wish blizzard would dump all of their money into something that appealed to me instead of these hack and slack fest. I like SC2 and all but it sucks its the only thing the company makes I don't hate.

You say "over-glorified Mercenaries" like that's a bad thing. In D2 mercs were essentially just meat shields and aura holding accessories. Having more than one useful class for them and adding some extra customization is still a nice improvement to me.

I wish Bioware made pornographic games.

I think we're both barking up the wrong trees here.

Definitely loled at the overly dramatic music at beginning and especially the end.

OT: They look like they would help all the socially phobic get through the game (need dps? POOF scoundrel; need beef? SHAZAM Templar). I'm guessing they only appear powerful in the trailer, because that's why trailers exist: to make shit look cool.

Theres been a bit of uproar in the official D3 forums; with Bashiok (the CM) saying "I'd recommend everyone back down from their perceptions of what they believe is true, because tomorrow, from my perspective, everyone is going to be eating crow."

i like how some people were arguing about what the singleplayer is. this is interesting i wonder how useful they'll be i plan to play it without real life players so i hope they can hold there own

Henchies are back. Unsurprising.
Yes, this trailer has almost no appeal. Who used them in d2 anyway ?
Uhhhh...sorceresses who put the insight or infinity runeword on mercs with the defiance or holy freeze aura? Or zons that put pride on a might merc while holding a faith bow (aka tri-damage-aura goodness)

Heck, mercs were downright amazing no matter which class you were because they provided you more skills and did some legitimate damage if you decked them in nice gear.

Not surprised that henchmen are back, but I'm glad to see that they will be more customizable than in D2.

Time will tell if they are worth bringing them along.
