Well, Christmas is coming up and I´m asking for a guitar. Problem is that I dont know what guitar I´m gonna "pick" (get it?).

I have two choices:

Epiphone SG G-310

Or an Epiphone Les Paul 100

Please, wich should I buy?

PS.: I´m a jazz and hard rock player.

Knowing nothing of guitars (so you might as well stop reading this post now) i'd go for the Les Paul as it's beauty is indescribable, although the SG might suit Hard Rock better.

Knowing nothing about guitars (High five to Omnipotent_Mortal!) and only owning a bass myself (Fender Squire), I would go for the Epiphone SG G-310 simply for the GORGEOUS aesthetic. Love the look!

Um, I don't know about sound, but I like the look of the Les Paul more. It's narrower, so it's easy to hold, and that doesn't change the sound since they're electric, right? Plus, it looks more like a classic guitar, and everyone loves the classics.

Les Pauls draw attention and awe, plus that they're awesome is also.. awesome

Just a tip, the inlays on the les paul look waaaaaaaay more nicer if it's blocks, and not dots

Get the Les Paul. I bought a G-400, and it's horrible. The Les Paul's about a half inch thicker than the SG, though.

I have played guitar for over 20 years. I personally prefer the Les Paul, as the thicker body gives a deep, rhythm filling sound with good sustain. If you are more into faster chord crunching and brighter solos, the SG is a very good choice.

In the end, see if you can arrange a test play at your local music store. That's really the only way to know for sure which is suited to you. They should be happy to give you 15 minutes or so trying the 2 out, so long as you avoid "Stairway". ;)

I'm not an Epiphone fan (been playing guitar for 11 years and some change) but if you have your heart dead set on one of those, Les Paul for the win. Personally I'd recommend an Ibanez (like the SZR.... http://www.ibanez.com/eg/series.aspx?s=szr ) or a PRS ( http://www.prsguitars.com/moderneagle2/index.html )

Les Paul every time. A friend had a midnight blue one that looked almost orgasmic and it played like a dream as well.

No Stairway. Denied.
