I'm glad you posted that. It just reminds me why I stopped caring about people that are different than me. I used to fight their battles for them, but it's clear now that even if I'm doing the right thing in keeping some group from being a second-class citizen, they won't thank me for it, and they still will hate me for what I am.

Also, who the hell came up with "genderfluid?" That sounds like something I got all over their mom's face. BOOM!

So, will the ball pit be making an appearance next year?
It better... It seemed like that ONE thing that should be at every future Dashcon! ;)

OT: Live and Learn

I mean, I don't think the next Dashcon would be any more worse than how it was before, which apparently wasn't as bad as a whole, I guess...

Also, why is there a picture of a chicken with an anus for a face?
Headless chicken, Im thinking. Or maybe its just a scathing remark on the average tumblr user - someone no better than a chicken with an anus for a face? :p
But is has a head, or at least I'm seeing one, and that's what has me confused.

Unless that's a black beak poking out, and it's just androgynous or something. It's a scathing remark no matter how you look at it isn't it haha.

I wonder just how low the turn out for the next one will be. Anyone who went to this one probably got laughed at non-stop by non-tumblrite friends. At least they should know to get a bigger ball pit.

Guys, it's clearly a chicken with feathers in its eyes. Even I saw that and I can't see for jack and shit.

That being said, This is hilarious. Beyond Hilarious. This is failure of a new generation. This Failure, which became a upon level itself shall now, and forever after, be called Dashcon."

I am still wondering why she hates STEM.

Doctors, engineers, computer scientists? These are the people she hates? I hope she never walks into a hospital with something serious.

Then of course we have a whole subreddit for people like this:

http://www.reddit.com/r/TumblrInAction/

But of course there is too many to make a thread on.

Then we got this:

http://daigonite.tumblr.com/post/92086610915

This is how serial killers and mass shooters are born. Tumblr is a strange and scary place.
Some people just have very strange thought patterns.

I try to stick to few subreddits because reddit is a massive time sink. so i usually just hang around in /r/PCMasterRace /r/PCPurism and /r/TalesFromTechSupport

Maybe this was all a publicity stunt so that they can get more people to attend next year, because to be honest, I want to buy a ticket for the cringecon 2015! Maybe they will have TWO ballpits!

I think you meant /r/PCMasterRace, I usually don't correct people on accidental spelling errors but I think CPMasterRace gives a bad impression of you. Unless of course you like CP, I won't judge.

WHY UTRAWINKLE WHY! And I thought I had already lost all faith in humanity... To be honest, I'm not surprised by the anti white/male stuff, but the amount of stuff targeted at trans folk, by OTHER trans folk, is scary. Bashing the powerful, sure, but bashing other marginalized groups is just messed up.

In this case, it seems to be a segment of people that want to be trans without actually having dysphoria, desiring to transition, and identify as a large number of different genders that change on a day to day basis, that and using a truly staggering number of pronouns to describe themselves.

The FtM and MtF trans crowd is somewhat understandably miffed at the idea because it's a group of people calling themselves transgender even though they have no actual intention of ever transitioning and seem to have redefined the term transgender from someone who is genuinely uncomfortable with their birth gender, to someone who acts a little outside standard gender roles, so they've decided to call themselves genderfluid or demigendered, or one of a thousand designations that mean almost the same thing.

The older transgender community calls the new ones "tucutes" which generally refers to the belief that some people who identify as non-binary are people are co-opting transgender beliefs to look cute or cool. Some members of the newer non-binary version of transgender call the older crowd "truscum" as a way to insult what they see as a rigid belief structure that insults their identity.

Mix in the radical feminism movement, and not what the Escapist considers radical feminism these women actually call themselves radical feminists, who are referred to as TERFs (Trans-Exclusionary Radical Feminists) and you've got an even bigger clusterfuck. On top of the normal hate directed at transgender people, this branch of feminism sees FtM as traitors to their cause, and views MtF as fake women who can't be trusted. Yeah, the transitioning transgender crowd still gets a lot of shit from all angles.

As for TiA, it used to be better, I subbed back when it had less than 15k member (god that makes me feel like a hipster), and the influx of people has brought in a lot of people who keep falling for troll blogs over and over again. It seems like every week theres a wall of posts from a blog where the owner is either blatantly being satirical, or it ends up on the troll blog list because browsing the blog at all quickly reveals that the author is just trying to piss people off.
The number of repeats is also a little worse now, and like half the submissions can be boiled down to a small group of a couple dozen repeat bloggers, I think between Misandry Mermaid, This is thin Priviledge, and Red, make up about 10% of the submissions by themselves.
The change to policy for posts that requires a screenshot makes sense since you don't want to give traffic to some of these places, but it kind of creates an atmosphere where you can't help but wonder if any of the images are being faked or modified for karma, although it does improve longevity since more than a few blogs featured end up deleting their posts if they get too many negative notes against them.
Still, its not a bad subreddit, the mods are great there, and generally try to keep the subreddit from going too offtopic.

The STEM thing confuses the fuck out of me. I know STEM is male dominated, but there are many incentives out there for women to get in. But even then, you can't just write off some of the most valuable professions.

I like to read these posts with the same kind of morbid fascination that I go to places like Conservapedia, where you just have to wonder if they are just trolling or they actually believe this shit. As someone who describes himself as a feminist, I just find this so interesting...ly awful.

My favorite post so far are the ones that fly in the face of known biology (the best one seems to not grasp how chromosomes work).

Taking what I know from the convention front man of Tekkoshocon, I can tell you that any convention that wants to have even a small chance of success requires ALOT of planning. It requires...

Reservations in advanced (because anyone can vy for that space you want),
Money in advanced (as in a deposit with whoever you're renting the space from to cover possible damages),
More than a vague idea of what to bring to the table in advanced (to entertain your guests),
Significantly-organized help that cannot consist entirely of volunteers for organization, security, information, technical support, and physical labor,
And it couldn't hurt to have a sponsor to benefit the whole occasion either.

This has to be done very carefully, so the top quoted line doesn't surprise me at all.
