I can just see her next book now:

Random girl: Zombie, I am totally in love with you. Let's have premarital sex that will bring unknow consequences between our people.

Zombie: Braaaaaaainsssss...

Random Girl: Oh look, a ninja!

And with a flick of his wrist, young Patrick released his burning match onto the remains of Meyer's body. Hoping to burn it along with all of her works in progress. He looks to the now full moon, knowing he has done a great deed for mankind.

I get the feeling that this may be the end of her career. Personally I think she just happened to hit on a formula that appeals to a certain demographic purely by chance, and writing about something else will lead to her spending the rest of her career trying to recapture her past success.

It also seems that she didn't realise just how bad an author she was; probably the only thing that allowed her to write Twilight was the fact that it was her fantasy she was writing from "her" (author avatar's) perspective.

If the rest of her next books have the same crappy social structure of helpless female and competition of Alpha Males, then I don't care whether or not she's done with vampires.

I don't hate vampires- I hate old social constructs.

And folks, its not the vampires that people like- its that god damn social construct. Insecure girls (why they are insecure is a whole other thesis paper) take comfort in the thought of some sexy, powerful man protecting her.

That's socially backwards, just as exploitative as selling bombs, and an absolute disgrace to humanity.

That's my problem with this author.

Here's a fun thought experiment:

So, tens of millions of people (some extremely thick people) love the Twilight series and the sparkle queen himself, Edward Cullen in particular. Now, seeing how Mr. Sparkles is supposed to be a vampire of some sorts, that means he's technically dead, or undead or whatever, correct.

Does this mean that tens of millions of people of this generation are necrophiliacs?

You gotta love how the escapists love hate Twilight. I am still wondering how religiously you know and follow all that is related to it if you ate it so much.
That's the thing. 90% of the people who bash on Twilight have not read it, even though they'll claim to Armageddon and back that they have.

I have read the books, at least those in the main series, and I can wholeheartedly say that I thoroughly dislike them. Not out of a dislike for her themes, or her setting, but for her absolutely abysmal character development. I'm a stickler for that sort of thing: If you don't develop characters well, why should I give a shit about your story? It's the reason that I can't stand authors like Clive Cussler, and more recently, Stephanie Meyer. Her book "Host" was a fair break, and proves that she actually can formulate an acceptably believable character, but most people ignore that to bash on the lady.

Wasn't she raised Mormon?

Might explain that.

She doesn't want to be typecast as that author that created a massively popular series about bloodsuckers that can passionately kiss.

It would be interesting if she a did a super hero trilogy with a bit more work on action/fighting and how the romance plays out.

Now only if she can get in a fatal car accident....

Ironically, watch her turn around and the next thing she writes is the most BADASS ___(subject here)___ thing ever

I swear to god, if she even thinks about touching Ninjas or zombies I will set her house on fire.

Generation Dead. Read it and weep. Or some similar title, basically a teen romance about walking corpses by some dude.

On topic, I hope she does space marines next. Seriously. Fucking do it!
