Why, oh why, oh why.
Its times like these I dislike being female, with all the fan girls running around sporting "Team Edward" tops. It makes me want to cry.
The only reason i'm going to watch this movie is to see if its as crap as the first one. Even though it'll be another 2 hours of my life i'll never get back. Not at the cinema though mind, i'm not giving them my hard earned money, that'll go against every moral fibre in my body.
I wouldn't even bother, it's probably just the same crap with a bigger budget, save your sanity and avoid it. That's just my advice.
I think i already lost my sanity to the first one :(
You seem like a nice girl and I like your avatar, I implore you to not damage yourself. BEWARE THE SLIPPERY SLOPE OF BAD MOVIES!!! /spooky voice
:D i shall not fall to such terrible acting and horribly written stories. Thankyou spooky voice for making me see the light xD
An honor and privilege to be of service, ma'am. Now if we can just get something on the market for the female taste and sensibility that isn't laced with literary arsenic, we'd be set...

a sign of the times?
fangirls sat everywhere in the cinema when I saw it last night :|
Same for me (was watching it purely so I could do a review of it). Worst part is that at the ending, where Edward tells Bella you-know-what, everyone made the worlds largest gasp, then starting applauding. Worst. Audience. Ever.
Really? at my cinema, there was some gasping, a bit of shouting, and a lot of squeees and other assorted fan-girl sounds.
and some running comentary throughout the film. but I'm good at tuning things out.

I had running commentary too... although that was me.

(Title screen)
"Wow, I really don't like the color of this New Moon, I'd like my old one back

(When Edward sparkles in the sun)
"Just like Riddick, Edward just wants to shine!"

(When Bella jumps from the cliff)
"And kratos cast himself from the highest montain of all greece"

It's a shame that I'm the only one of my friends that watches unskippable, because nobody got the references :( Althought the first comment isn't a reference or a blatant rip-off form unskippable, I actually made that up,

I've said it before and I'll say it again: those who think Stephanie Meyer is merely stupid, misguided, or a bad writer are wrong. She's a lot more manipulative than you might think. Think about it: practically all of the first Twilight novel was designed for one purpose- to pander to the shrieking teenage fangirl demographic.

You've got your brooding, extremely handsome Mary Sue guy, who just happens to fall for Stephanie Meyer's self-insert character/Mary Sue, plenty of pseudo-romance, enough supernatural stuff to appeal to the emo crowd, and more wish fulfillment than all the Harry Potter books combined.

And keep in mind that aforementioned demographic's bigger than you think.

I've even heard Cleolinda Jones herself, who rips into Twilight daily, describe Twilight as a 'sugary treat [...] like cotton candy for the brain.' I'm paraphrasing, though. My point is, Meyer knows what she's doing. She wants to make as much money as possible, and turning Twilight into a cash cow franchise is just another step in her plan.

I'm telling ya, maaaaaaaaannnn, this time next year, we'll all be shrieking, squeeing, Twilight mindslaves! That's how insidiously corrupting this stuff is!

I have to say, as much as I despise Twilight and it's twisted author, you're right. She really isn't stupid...I would probably send her to the hospital if I saw her in real life but I give her credit for making the destruction of vampire lore into one of the biggest literary money-makers ever...

I agree I look forward to seeing the rifftrax of this, but I don't want that misconstrued as wanting that forced on them. I wouldn't force this on anybody. You think they use twilight in guatmo?

I'm not sure if I'll even watch it then.

Please tell me there's more to this list.

Why do bad movies have to make so much money?
Because they're based off of a successful series, whether or not it is good, it appeals to its legions of fans.
For further confirmation, see:
The Star Wars prequels
Indiana Jones 4
Terminator 3&4
Pirates of the Caribbean 2&3
Transformers
The list goes on.

EDIT: I should try capitalizing upon the next movie's release, pretend to like it to get some fangirls by my side, which can't be that bad, as long as I screen out the words "Twilight","Bella",and "Edward Cullen" from my ears, and replace them with, respectively, "District 9", "Alien Superweapons", and "Wikus".
This actually brings up a point that I think is relevant to these films. They use gross profit instead of number of tickets sold. Additionally, prices for movie tickets have gone up thanks to inflation, so older films find it almost impossible to compete with newer ones when the measure for success if gross profit.

Big fucking surprise.

A friend of mine gave a really good idea of Twilight the other day.

"Twilight is what Michael Bay would make if he had a vagina"

"...What?"

"Well think about it. Michael Bay films are shitty movies with bad actors and storys, but lots of crazy action and explosions. Twilight films are shitty movies with bad actors and storys, but lots of romance and buff guys attached."

"...Buff guys? What are you, gay?"

"Fuck off"

I secretly think it was a good evalution, but you don't say that to your mates.
Does your friend visit a site called Spill? The Spill crew said nearly the same thing! He does have a good evaluation on this piece of crap.
I saw the movie (I didn't pay)and to be fair, it was better than the first one, but it still sucked!

And all this despite it being completely without merit!

I WOULD say this is ultimate proof that success now has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with quality... except we knew that long ago.
