again, it BAFFLEZ ZE MIND.
HAHAHAHAHA!!! Wow...just wow. That clip is funny. Just had to comment on it...except now it will be scarred in my mind, giving me nightmares. Anyways...here's the silver lining, at least she is sticking to writing what she knows about (granted, that doesn't seem too be a lot to draw from) instead of trying to write about something like international spy espionage or something.
That picture now haunts me aswell.

Success
1. the favourable outcome of something attempted
2. the attainment of wealth, fame, etc.
3. an action, performance, etc., that is characterized by success
4. a person or thing that is successful
5. Children's lives ruined.

Seriously though, I don't know much about her, has she ruined children's lives?

Not yet, however I'm going to be a man and admit that I don't know much about her either, and I may have jumped to conclusions. But that book is about a land called modelland which all girls wanna go. Seriously that doesn't really seems to be a good model for kids. She is encouraging them to want a carrier that only is about their outer apperance.

In my perfect world there are no models.

Well great.

This only cements my fear that books are a dead medium fit only for idiots, and video games are the one chance I have at finding a good story.

Thanks Tyra, you've killed one of the last remaining shreds of hope I had!
You found a game with a good story?!?!?! JK, though seriously, what games? I have a 360.
Portal and Half Life, but if you ever get your hands on a Gamecube, GET METROID PRIME. I'm late as hell to that party, but it's one of the best stories I've seen, period. The time it takes to scan all the stuff is so very worth it.

Quoting for the truth.

Seriously, 'all girls want to go to Modelland'? When I was ten or eleven, I wanted to go to Hogwarts. When I was in my early-mid teens, it shifted to either working in a library, or for going back to the fantasy aspect, any sort of dystopia. ... later Aperture Science. -cough- Anything involving insane robots and fights for life.

My points exactly. Every one of my female friend I have asked(granted only one so far, long weekend with lonley studies) have also agreed. What I'm afraid of is that the book will be to accesiable like Harry Potter(which wasn't that horrible) and get a model fanbase and be praised as the next tolkien.

The only way I can imagine this being worse is if she somehow incoporates emo vampires into it. Even without that it will still be one of the worst crimes against the world of storytelling in history.

You're right. if it's adult and directed at kids it's wrong. I think to take away childhood by pushing kids to grow up too fast is very sad. That would be very irresponsible for someone with her influence and media power. Having watched a lot of America's next top model with my wife she does a good job of asking girls to be happy with themselves hopefully she'll approach the project wisely.

Does anyone know if books still have a YA (young adult) rating?

A fantasy book. About models. Not only that, but a dimension full of magical ones. My brain overloads from the shear strange-ity and idiocy of the idea. How Modelland could even be comparable to anything Tolkien wrote baffles me. All this is is a publicity stunt, I guarantee it. And it will be made into a movie. Definitely. Just to make the Universe substantially less cool.

And you'll hurt a million children if it becomes one? Well, for every dollar it makes, I'll murder a kitten.

Did anyone else think giant lizard here?

The sad thing is, I may have to buy all the books just to burn them and stop everyone else from reading them. And I'm a student, so I have no money to buy the books.

I'm just gonna go with the flow of everyone else and say that I am disappointed at this. We really need to hire Neil Gaiman to slap her for this before distracting Tyra away from the keyboard with something shiny. And thus, balance has returned to fantasy novels.

But the whole student budget thing's still an issue, so I may need some contributions for hiring out Mr Gaiman. Any takers? I might be able to push Garth Nix on my own, but if we want to really put Tyra back in her place with her shiny things we may need even more awesome.

sympathy pat. funny how no one ever suspected this level of sheer idiocy on the intellectual Tyra Banks Show, where she was fat for two hours, homeless for 8 hours, and some other journalism gems my brain protects me from remembering.
