Well great.

This only cements my fear that books are a dead medium fit only for idiots, and video games are the one chance I have at finding a good story.

Thanks Tyra, you've killed one of the last remaining shreds of hope I had!
Do not give up!
If you want intelligent sci-fi, try Peter F. Hamilton.
If you want great fantasy, try Raymond E. Feist
If you want heroic fantasy; David Gemmel is a must.
As for sci-fi on a different scale to Hamilton's, there's Issac Asimov.

And people have told me that the author of Twilight ruined writing...this is a massive impending disaster, the only way these could be remotely decent is if somebody else wrote it and slapped Tyra Banks' name on it, and even then it may be painfully obvious

No NO NO! Tyra! stop thinking like that, you put that thought away! THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!

in all seriousness, I was certain twilight served as a harbinger or some kind of fulfilled prophecy marking the beginning of the downfall of literature. This just serves to confirm my suspicions...

Not sure if some one has pointed this out but isn't that the entire point and theme of the 'Winx Club' (Would include a link to the paper back on amazon but didn't know if that broke forum rules or not)
So basically not only is her idea puerile and narcissistic. Its ripping off a generic and puerile cartoon aimed at 12 year old girls and creepier old guys that has been running for the better part of 4 years..

And worst of all 'model land'(I couldn't bring myself to leave of the space) is possibly a good title for a sci fi thriller (like snow crash) but now Ms Banks has the name that novel will never be written..

I know that telling a woman to "shut up and look pretty" isn't P.C., but Tyra, shut the fuck up and look pretty. No one can match Tolken. No one. Tolken didn't write a story, he created a world, not just a shobby alt-universe, a world with cultures, languages, geography, and its own history.

Also, SNL, I command that you make a skit of Tyra being brutally murdered by Nazgul.

After careful thought and consideration, all I can think is she's cast summon bigger lizard.

And it will probably get published.

And some poor schmuck with something actually worth reading on the slush pile will never get a second glance as a result.

@#$%.

Learning of this, I Somehow imagine that "Go, Dog, Go!" will be a literary masterpiece in comparison.
HOW DARE YOU DOUBT THE LITERARY MAGNIFICENCE OF "GO, DOG, GO!"

Ahem.

Speaking seriously, "Go, Dog, Go!" serves a good purpose in the world and is memorable in a good way, so it's already two steps ahead of "Modelland". What remains to be seen is whether or not "Modelland" manages to have more depth and sophistication than "Go, Dog, Go!" Good money says that P.D. Eastman remains on top.

There's honestly no way to respond to this. All I can say is my brain is crying from the sheer stupidity of it all. I'm thinking God may have actually abandoned us if he allows this piece of ...idk what it is, definitely not literature, to be unleashed upon the masses of all ready Twatlighted teenage girls.

No, really!! I'm telling you, Tyra is a brilliant woman who understands the world... it's getting harder and harder to believe me, and this announcement makes my brain want to turn inside-out, but... maybe she's off her sanity medication?
