I'm about ready to denounce my humanity... I no longer wish to be a part of this species...

After reading this, my brain screamed, burst out of the top of my skull, and hid in a closet while sobbing in fear.

Improbable and ridiculous, but less so than this article.

Some things just sound like a bad idea from the start. This happens to be one of those ideas.

Seriously, this is why models are models. They don't have to be smart at all to be successful and I think this proves it.

EDIT: And I beg you guys! Please stop quoting that freaky looking gif!

Why all the hate? Who the hell cares that some model decides to write a fantasy book about models/modeling? Why is this even news on a the Escapist???
Because it is the dumbest idea in the world.

Modelling is not something that can make up a "land" it isn't even a self sustaining economy.

The entire way modelling works is you just happen to look pretty (luck of the draw in genes) so that you can be used for advertising in selling clothing, jewellery or perfume. It's not a noble job, it isn't even a job you work for your entire working life, not like becoming a lawyer, scientist or doctor, you just by dumb luck have better than average looks and then have REAL professionals like stylists make you look the best you can.

Why do the Models in Modelland (pronounced 'Model Land') have to look pretty?

Unless Modelland (pronounced 'Model Land') is directly next door to Creepypervertswhopaytotakepicturesofprettywomenland (pronounced Capitalism land) then it is pure self absorbant narcassist fantasy, as if merely "being beautiful" magically endowes women with powers of self-sustainability. Why the hell can't all the models of Modelland (pronounced 'Model Land') just bum around in slack pants and t-shirts doing what girls like to do (hmm, what do girls like to do if you take oogling men out of the equation).

Back in the Real World (not necessarily where Tyra's state of mind is located) you can't be a model the rest of your life. People retire at 65, now you can count on one hand the number of women who have been successful and well paid models from ages 18 to 65.

Modelling has about the same credibility as working in McDonalds, it is a part time, short term job at best.

Only people like Tyra hype it up as if it is the best fucking thing in the world, even that it is somehow significant or meaningful.

No. it's simple economics. you want to make it in the "fashion industry" learn a trade you can still practice at 65, learn how to make dresses, apply makeup, hell you can still be a fitness instructor at 65 but by very DEFINITION modelling will always be rigged for only the youngest regardless of any "talent".

Ah, celebrity novelists. Where books go to die.

Here's a thought Tyra, if you actually create this Modelland, then you'll either show how easy you have it, or how tough everyone else will have it, thereby deleting both target audiences at once.

You fail before you even began.

Really Tyra, Model Land is where "every girl in the world wants to go"? Because I have quite a few female friends who would rather ripe out their own intestines than visit Model Land (no double L for you Tyra)

So...
Wait...
um...
What?
This isn't gonna go well. Maybe she can set a record, the one fantasy book series that makes me want to kill someone even more than Twilight.
