Ubisoft Announces Open Beta for The Division

One more shot.

The closed beta for Tom Clancy's The Division ran from January 28 for Xbox One users, January 29 for players using PC and PlayStation 4, through February 2. Due to what Ubisoft called an "unprecedented demand," [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/166192-The-Divisions-Beta-Hit-By-Unprecedented-Demand] access was limited for players who had been placed on the waitlist, and those who pre-ordered - which guaranteed access to the closed beta - were delayed in being able to access it as well.

In a post today [http://tomclancy-thedivision.ubi.com/game/en-GB/news/detail.aspx?c=tcm:154-237962-16&ct=tcm:148-76770-32], Ubisoft announced an open beta, with Xbox One users once again getting a 24 hour head start. From February 18 (February 19 for PS4 and PC owners) through February 21, the open beta will be free to play without restrictions.

"This Open Beta is an invitation to all agents to get one final taste of the game before the official launch on March 8," the post reads. "Added to the content already seen in the Closed Beta, the Open Beta will include an all new story mission for players to explore in their pursuit to take back New York. As a thank you, everyone who participates will be rewarded with a special in-game reward which will unlock for players when the full game is released."

Following the closed beta, some users reported instances of cheating on PC [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/166241-Ubisoft-Addresses-The-Division-Beta-Cheating-Reports], which included increased speed, invisibility, critical hit chance, no recoil, and alterations that grant unlimited health, ammo, and medical kits. Ubisoft assured players that the problem would be remedied prior to the game's release.

You can get all the details on how to participate in the beta here [http://tomclancy-thedivision.ubi.com/game/en-US/beta/index.aspx].

So... the latter...
So... that brings the total of missions in the "open beta" to... two? That still sounds like a demo to me. I mean, maybe they've opened up more of NYC, but, I somehow doubt it.

Demo, but it may double as a form of stress-test beta (which this would do perfectly fine) and maybe test their anti-cheat.

Sweeeet!

*Runs to console*

...

Wait a minute...

*Reads article properly*

Ah damnit! And screw you microsoft, again using your money to withhold whatever you can from the other console userbase (albeit nowhere near as badly as usual, but still) like a sore loser in a marathon that pays some thugs to steal the bottles of water off the tables dotted ahead of the leading runners.

It's always best to try these things for free to get a sense of the microtransactions available.

There are a ton of side missions in the Beta. Only two of the main story line missions.

That's what I was talking about. The story missions.
