UK Pre-Order Bonuses For Dawn of War 2 Announced

Looking forward to Dawn of War 2, but one chapter of Space Marines not enough for you? Well, if you pre-order the special edition, and live in the UK, you can get a whole new chapter to fight Orks, Eldar and Tyranids with.

The Devastator Wargear Set, available exclusively from GAME, includes new armor and weapons for squad leader Avitus's team of Devastator Marines, as well as access to the Novamarines Chapter and four exclusive army painter colors.

The Sniper Wargear Set, available from HMV, similarly equips Cyrus's scout squad, as well as another four exclusive army painter colors and access to the Angels of Redemption Chapter.

THQ will announce two more packs in the new year, no doubt in plenty of time to get your pre-orders in before the game is released in late February, 2009.

Being a Warhammer 40k I have to say, they better introduce some new features to the game, I mean I love RTS's but frankly the last 2 games are the same thing with a different trench coat on it.
Don't worry it's a completely new game now. No base building.

Awesome. Full price, less stuff. I just love these marketing ploys.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Win. Looks like I'm stuck with Devastator though, no HMV in this town and no compulsion to buy from them.

Yeah, I fucking hate this exclusive pre-order BS, especially since it seems to just be a code to unlock something on the disc.

The 40k freak inside me is going "OMG GET IT NAO!"

This is quite annoying to Dawn of War fans outside of the UK, like myself. Though some way people will still easily be able to get their hangs on this stuff, after the release.

Isn't there just no base building in Campaign? I am sure there is still base building in skirmishes and multiplayer.

As much as I like pre-order bonuses, (I always pre-order games I know I want without that incentive, so it's just free stuff) I don't like the idea that it's exclusive to particular retailers, and that I can only have one.

I usually get my games from Game, but depending on which other 2 retailers (Gamestation & Play?) take part & what specific bonus they offer, I may be forced to buy from the retailer with the most desirable bonus content.

I'm actually more interested in the exclusive paints than the actual units, say for instance that HMV has exclusive gold, purple and red paints then I may buy from them even if its more expensive, just to make a custom army with a colour scheme I'd prefer.

Since it's a PC game, what do you think the chances are of all the exclusive bonus units & paints being cracked and released as downloads by a fan site?

I bet like most games, you could just find codes with a quick search. I did that for LBP, and Mercs 2 (when I rented it too).

I'm not sure I will go have a massive DoW2 root around now.

Nope, you have a HQ and that's it. I cannot wait.

Hmmm, well as long as it isn't like Warhammer: Mark of Chaos. I wasn't particularly fond of units only game play in some modes. Though MoC was quite crap.

Does this mean we can finally play as another chapter other than the insufferable Blood Ravens?

Someone should make a Dow2 clan on here. I would but I am not very organised.

I wonder what this will do to balance. Nothing good i presume. I'm considering scapping this game off my "to buy" list after they announced no modding whatsoever and now this.

Gamestop have taken DoW 2 off their pre order list for some reason (which sucks as they had the best exclusive content), and there is absolutly no mention of DoW 2 on their website even this close to relese, it is almost as if they are trying to deny its exsistence. Strange? you better belive it.
