Unboxing New Loot Rules - Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls Collector's Edition
We unbox the Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls Collector's Edition.
Despite some hiccups, we here at The Escapist have been Recently, the much maligned Auction House got the boot [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/reviews/9628-Diablo-3-Review] and a major patch that addressed, among other things, the loot table have been introduced. A lot of this has been leading up to the release of Diablo 3's first expansion Reaper of Souls which went live earlier this week.
Speaking of loot, let's crack this open and see what's inside.
Diablo III: Reaper of Souls for PC/Mac
Behind the Scenes Blu-ray/DVD Set
Reaper of Souls Soundtrack
The Art of Reaper of Souls Art Book
Malthael Mouse Pad
Exlcusive In-Game Content
Obviously you're getting the game, well unless you're Wolfenstein [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/133257-Wolfenstein-The-New-Order-Panzerhund-Edition-Costs-100-Doesnt-Include-Game]. The Behind the Scenes content promises interviews, roundtable discussions and commentary. The Soundtrack is full of what you'd expect, lots of moody and swelling ambiance tracks. The art book, in grand Blizzard fashion, is gorgeous as always, likewise the mouse pad is a nice looking print of Reaper of Souls main baddie Malthael. This all comes in a big swanky box that you're probably used to if you've purchased any Blizzard collector editions before. Find yourself a nice shelf to display it once you've mined it for all the goodies.

It's likely the in-game content that we'll be roping most folks in though. For Diablo 3 you'll be getting a Spectral Hound minion to follow you in your travels and a number of items to transmogrify the appearance of your favorite loot into Maltheal-inspired ones. There are additional rewards for World of Warcraft and Starcraft II as well. WoW players will get a Treasure Goblin pet, wonder if it's any good for pet battles, and portrait and decals for Starcraft II.
And a new feature for my unboxings, a blunt trauma rating. Anyone who is a fan of collector's editions is well aware how big and heavy they can get. It sometimes feels like you could seriously injure someone if you whacked them hard enough with one. The Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls Collector's Edition would be a somewhat flimsy [rating=2]. It doesn't have quite the heft that previous Blizzard collector's editions have had. It's light enough to lift comfortably with one hand and while solidly constructed doesn't have that smacking potential.
You can grab this collector's edition for $80 or win it for free in our giveaway [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/133292-Are-You-a-Console-Commander-or-in-the-PC-Master-Race]!
