According to the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CG5kwtsDXfE Uncharted 2 will feature an edit mode that'll allow players to make there own Machinima. Now I know halo had something similar but this looks so much more complex (considering Halo was just a record button really, I like Halo 3 by the way). On Uncharted versions there's a green screen mode and you can manipulate the lips on the characters so they can speak your own script.

So I was wondering what those of the escapist thought of this, is it a great touch and you see yourself becoming a digital Spielberg, a good idea but you yourself won't use it. Or will it just result in a mass spamming on youtube of poorly done Machinima?

I personally think it's a great idea, whether I'll have the time, patience or ability to do it is another question. Could be a good way of a game brining people together (supplying voices, writing, letting someone else do the actually movement of the charecters etc.)

wow, that genuinely looks fantastic. The lip-synching thing especially sounded a little ultra-advanced as well... should be interesting!

I'm not sure about this. I mean it is a fantastic idea, but part of the reason Halo machinima works where others fail, is because the armor are all pretty standard, and 100% of the character's personality comes from the voice talent.

Once you have faces to go with those voices, you need to actually uh... have talent. Plus, if you're recycling characters from in the game, you can pretty much only make Uncharted 2 machinima as opposed to machinima set inside the Uncharted 2 universe - those characters are already imprinted with some kind of personality.

I don't deny it's a great tool, but unfortunately I don't see anything great being accomplished with it.

This is so awesome!

This will remove so many of the limitations machinima produces have to deal with.

Let's hope more game developers do this.
