"Tall, dark and phallic."

*snrk*

I think this might have actually sold me on the game. I mean, I was planning on getting it, but probably on a Steam sale. After seeing this, I'm considering coughing up the full price.

Those foot stomps make me feel like the alien has gained weight. So it is a fat cock now!

PS: I'd suggest you guys try and see who survives the longest on Organ Trail, but you'd need to set up some rules so the video doesn't last too long.

I did not realise it spent so much time trotting around upright; it seems odd for the Alien to do that, but maybe I'm just misremembering how much time it spent on all fours in the movies.

I second this, it's a really good idea!

They're probably smart enough to realise they get a better view if they stand upright.

This is the one time where I REALLY wished the Uncivil War theme song was playing in the background during this episode. ^^:

Wonder when we'll see Yahtzee's review of Alien: Isolation? Will he even enjoy it? Better still, will his underpants remain white after playing it?

If we go on the movies different xenomorphs behave in different ways. Some rely on stealth by hiding in the scenery and only moving to pounce, some hunt in packs and try to overwhelm their opponents. In the original movie the xenomorph used vents to move around and very rarely made any sound whatsoever, but this would not make for a good game and would only feel frustrating. In the later movies we saw them running on walls and behaving like bees protecting a hive, but that would work better in action games (like the AvP series). The series (and later the AvP movies) expanded the diversity by showing how xenomorphs change both behavior and physical characteristics based on environments and prey, showing that they are highly adaptive.

Gameplay-wise it's understandable why they made the xenomorph walk upright and make a lot of noise. It gives the player more information to act on to reduce frustration, as well as making the xenomorph really scary. I would probably have preferred a game where they made the AI less rubber-bandy and had it utilize the scenery more to blend in, to really mess with the mind of the player, but that would also mean risking a full play-through where you barely ever encounter it.

This game is absolutely terrifying. It's quite a joy to play.

On a side note, after watching Jim's defense of Alien 3 I went and watched the extended version of the movie, and I think he's right. If you can get past the deaths of Hicks and Newt and some of the movie's other flaws (It's not very scary, ugly and repetitive set design) it's a fantastic movie. Fox completely butchered Fincher's cut. Don't watch the original theatrical cut that they released. Watch the extended version.

This video has done a better job than reviews to make me want to play the game. Maybe I should watch Let's Plays and so on after all.

Is it just RNG that made Yahtzee not die? It seems odd to me that the Xenomorph didn't kill him (unless they can only kill from behind because duh).

In the first one you get a surprising amount of screen time with the alien in plain view, standing up. I watched it again after seeing this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpvxVTwQOpQ] with that in mind and was surprised at how bold they are with the xenomorph; at times it's just there but you kind of overlook it until it moves-- that's good scripting and screenplay if anything.

And also, xenomorphs take on the characteristics of their host. In the history of aliens, there's been human aliens, a dog alien, and all manner of types if you take the spinoff movies into consideration.

Yes, this video sold me on the game as well. A king of the hill style survival mode sounds like some great multiplayer.

While I enjoyed watching this, I dont think I'd enjoy the game... reckon I'd get too frustrated at all the sneaky-sneakying.

Will however state that A3 is pretty good, found the story to be surprisingly solid for a sequel.

How come Yahtzee isn't an Alien nerd!? Didn't know they can see pretty damn well, didn't get the "I won't lie to you about your chances" quote. I am disappoint!
That said, damn good challenge, highly entertaining, chaps!

Jim might have gotten used to hearing the alien during his review play, and avoiding the motion tracker (the alien can get attracted to its beeps.
That was a fun video, I didn't think I'd ever hear Yahtzee sounnd that unnerved.

Jim got beat playing the Alien game.

That doesn't bode well, if you're Team Sterling.
