Before, I was excited when I heard that the game might be coming Mac.

Now, I'm not so sure I'll have any interest in it when they do.

Perma bans? Damn, can't you guys just, I dunno, disable the dance function until its fixed or something?
That would make sense, and this is EA we're talking about. It might take a whole hour to patch out the "/dance" command to just display "Can't dance here" or "Dancing temporarily disabled," whereas screwing over your customers is EA's special sentai power ("Epsilon Alpha Rainbow Banhammer attack!")

Of all the reasons for not playing a game, you choose this?

Please, do explain. I'm completely at a loss here.

Am I the only one who is happy by this?

I mean I hate griefers. People that abuse bugs annoy me. If someone was dancing during PvP to avoid all of my damage it would make me want to kill them. A ban is like a compromise since they get to continue living, but they won't annoy me further.

Fail to you.
The bans are fake, and they already patched in a fix for this bug.

Let's say it's known about for 24 hours, and they abuse the mob every 10 minutes. 1 said mob being abused dropped over 20 pieces of loot

You'd seriously not permaban for someone knowing an emergency fix would be on its way? The only difference to WoW is that people are getting their panties in a bunch over this, and people have been gleefully exploiting in WoW to a permaban inc for years.

Would you want the kind of person that looks for the next exploit to sell their account off with loads of money gone from your game too, or give him some leeway because 'oh we should've known every single bug in the game and assumed people wouldn't take advantage of them!'
Its an in game economy, it'd fix itself after a while. Humans are opportunists, so no, I wouldn't ban them, I would completely understand. Especially considering that if I recall, permabans from EA means you can't play any of your games.

ITT: A combination of gullible morons, trolls and pissed off kids banned for knowingly abusing an exploit. Stay classy, Escapist.

Holy crap for real? They're banning people for using the auction house...like an auction house in any other mmo? The hell? Man these mods would shit a brick if they ever saw how people dominated the ah in WoW, I know a few guy who playing the auction house was all they did.

Frankly anyone who's using the auction houses in TOR for extended periods of time deserves some kind of medal. The damn thing is one of the most poorly built parts of the game and it's less frustrating to just vendor everything I'm not going to use than try to navigate the galactic trade whatsamawhosit. (other than that I'm quite pleased with the game)

And looting stuff from chests in high level areas? All I have to say to that is "da fuck?" It's not like they stop you from landing your ship on a level 50 planet, let alone from venturing out into the wilds of it.

If you don't want people doing certain things in your game you build restrictions in that keep them from doing it. If you fail to put them in then handing out suspensions and bans is not the right answer when they play the game contrary to how you expected.

Blizz has suspended people plenty for exploiting the game. There was a guild who got the world first Lich King kill using an exploit that bugged the ground from falling. They received a suspension and had their kill retracted.

No one was banned, learn to read.
Right, because that was totally "jumping on the hate-wagon" and not AT ALL just a joke excuse for me to use the phrase "Rainbow Banhammer attack" in a post... damn, but the rabid fanboys take everything so seriously.

History repeats itself.
Except WoW is weakening now, it's not growing anymore and is losing players rapidly, so much so they're trying to advertise everywhere they can, adding in new expansions of what was previously a joke, along with the success of Rift it is conceivable that it probably will work especially considering that the amount of pre-orders was amazing.

"Dance Soterios Johnson, dance" conveniently came on as they started dancing thus improving this by a billion.

If it turns out that Bioware really does ban for this then I'll have lost my last shred of interest in any game they ever make.

Besides, Jensen doesn't care at all:

As can be seen.[/youtube]

Didn't anyone read the update? The e-mail about getting banned for not dancing in the 'dance zone' was fake, stop making such a fuss about this.
No, the bans are real, just the "dancing zone" email thing is a fake.
