Update: The Elder Scrolls Online "Imperial Edition" Leaked by Amazon

Amazon has leaked an image showcasing a special Imperial Edition of The Elder Scrolls Online including maps, a collectible statue and a 224-page art book.

The internet is a place where mistakes never die. Maybe your finger slips or you push the wrong button. All it takes is one little trip up of that miniscule scale and it's perfectly possible to expose something about yourself, your company or your work to the world that you can never take back. Thankfully, not every single secret exposed to the world is earthshaking, sometimes an online retailer just prematurely unveils a fancy version of a video game.

Case in point, Amazon has accidentally leaked an image showcasing the contents of the "Imperial Edition" of The Elder Scrolls Online. The image, which has since been pulled from the Dishonored: Game of the Year Amazon page where it was discovered, featured in detail what this apparent special edition of the much anticipated MMORPG will contain. More specifically, the Imperial Edition will include a 12-inch statue of the Daedric Prince Molag Bal, a map of Tamriel and a nifty 224-page art book. Players who buy the Imperial Edition will also be given access to a number of digital perks including the ability to play as an Imperial regardless of alliance. Players who buy this special edition will also receive a white Imperial horse, a Mudcrab pet, and a pair of Rings of Mara. The Imperial Edition itself will be cased in Steelbook packaging.

It may also be worth noting that it could potentially up in the air as to which platform the Imperial Edition is being released on. While ESO itself is planned to launch on PC, Mac, PS4 and Xbox One, the leaked image is only marked for the PS4. That could mean nothing, of course, but we'll be curious to learn more as the game's release gets closer and the Imperial Edition resurfaces for its official debut.

Update: A digital Imperial Edition is now available for pre-order at the <a href=https://account.elderscrollsonline.com/store?q=a3ab98dd-c087-4138-869f-63d3fb5175fd&p=f80923b9-9692-418a-a942-76902c94617e&ts=1391020295&c=zenimaxonline&e=live&rt=Safetynet&h=c92f71efe5509c1f454ae59cd29daf85>Elder Scrolls Online store.

Mine! Now, I will be away during launch, need to find a way to secure one of these beauties.

Edit: Rings of Mara? I thought Bethesda said there would be no romance gameplay in ESO.

*suggested romance in CAPS during beta evaluation*

The stuffs are cool, but I really don't dig this game. It plays like a crappy knockoff Skyrim, and why would I play a crappy knockoff Skyrim when I can play a perfectly good actual Skyrim with the added bonus of not having to deal with 100's of random jackholes? Granted, it's in beta, but with it being a few months away from release, I doubt they'll get it in a shape that'd I'd want to play it.

I love Elder Scrolls, though, so I'd love if they proved me wrong.

I hope The Imperial Edition comes to PC. I love getting the Collector's Editions of games. One thing that bugged me about the Skyrim CE and most likely this CE too is that there isn't a soundtrack with it. I feel that every CE should have the soundtrack included or some selected songs.

This has to do with the deal Jeremy Soule has managed to get with every publisher since Morrowind. The reason that complete soundtracks aren't sold with the game or on Amazon is because he's selling it through his own record company. It's a real pain in the butt too. I purchased the Guild Wars 2 OST from his site and it took around 3 months to get it. Granted I ordered it in the first wave, compelte with an autograph, but still. Three months? Do they craft the CDs by hand? And it took ages to ship it to Sweden. And now I'm sitting and waiting for his Northerner album which should have come out last year.

Sorry to rant, but I thought one should give proper heads up before dealing with DirectSong.

Also, CE of Skyrim and Guild Wars 2 had select tracks included. Skyrim had a track from Whiterun and the Dragonborn theme.

My keen gamer instincts tell me that if this game is a success, that Bethesda will scratch and future single player TES games.

This game is will probably sell decently for the first week or three but after that, people will abandon it like a leaky ship. The gameplay is a mix of WoW and P2P. It certainly looks al right but I don't think I could bear to pay to play it and it is going to be a subscription based game.

They could have made it significantly better by doing away with the class system entirely and had an EVE like skill system where you could level up what skills you wanted to make whatever character you wanted. A heavily armoured mage for example. Or an axe specialised assassin and so on and so forth. But no, it's a class based F2P MMO in all but name. Avoid!

Err in Elder scroll online, it does not matter what class you play you can use all weapons and armour types, the same as all elder scrolls games. Class largely determines your starting skills and equipment, after that its your choice of skills to develop. There class and race only skill trees but that does not stop you playing whatever you want.

Love the tracks from Guild Wars 2. The Skyrim CE had select songs? All I got in mine was the statue of Alduin, map, and art book. I even checked the bonus DVD. Are they download codes or was a CD supposed to come with it?

I got a CD with 5 tracks in my ginormous game box, along with Alduin and the map and stuff. They even included the game.

I never got a CD. Only discs I got in mine was the game disc and the bonus DVD. I suppose it's possible I somehow missed it but I remember taking everything out of the box and examining everything thoroughly.

I'm still going to be getting this, even though I fully expect to be dragged back to WoW a couple of months after release. The Elder Scrolls fan boy in me just can't ignore all that swag.

what are you talking about!! there is nothing immersion breaking about seeing someone bunny hopping around called "ifckelfs" absolutely nothing immersion breaking at all haha
You don't have to see that, though. if they deliver on their promise of the megaserver, you can phase out anything you don't want to see. For example, you can select to only encounter RP'ers, or maybe even only your friends.

This comment just reeks of someone who actually has never seen ESO in action. It plays almost nothing like WoW and a lot more like Skyrim with special skills. You can use any combination of class/race/armor/weapon you want and the game will still be viable. Granted there will be optimal setups, but there's nothing stopping you from playing as a sorceror wearing full heavy armor and a 2h battleaxe

I hope I don't jinx anything, but I wonder if, like Blizzard, releasing an MMO of their flagship franchise means the end of any offline entries. I realise that a follow up to Skyrim would still be about 2-3 years away (at the time of writing) even if it were in development, but as surely as WoW killed off any chance of Warcraft IV and SWTOR killed any chance of KotOR III, does TESO mean we'll never see a TES VI?

I don't know if I'll bother with this one. I'm a huge TES fan, since Morrowind, but not sure I'd be up for another MMO.

It's a different team working on the online game from the team that works on the single player games.

Well now, that is good to know :) Thanks for that, I hope it means good things ahead. We've all but had Fallout IV confirmed and with luck, we'll see Skyrim's successor with "next" gen goodness in a couple of years.

I still don't get why they did this.

Skyrim was one of the best single player games I played in a very long time. I think that goes for a lot of people.
This game is also clearly targeted at people that have played Skyrim.
Can't they see that an MMO is completely the opposite of Skyrim.

Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim, each of them had the same defining characteristics: Freedom, Exploration and Story Focused.
These things CANNOT happen in an MMO.
Freedom gets restricted due to other player characters, factions, alliances, guilds, grinding, raids. These things do not encourage freedom, they set boundaries. Grinding especially, since we all know certain parts of maps are going to have higher level monster than others. So you can't explore freely since you will run into high level monsters.
So, already with the grinding and level designated areas we have also eliminated the Exploration.
Story focus and MMOs are never a combination. Since the game would need to be accessible to new players and individual stories for each character is pretty impossible (I think that Bioware Star Wars game tried something like that. Don't know how that was). If you have a server wide story progression new players will become lost and have no idea what is happening, and everyone, no matter their level will also progress at the same time (bit like WoW expansions, like Cataclysm). It's just not something I can see happening.

Sorry, but with this being marketed towards Skyrim player, this will only sour the memories those players have of Skyrim. TES is a completely different beast, and as it looks to me, a bit of a mess. A failed chimera. Something like Jeff Goldblum's Fly. Begging to be killed.

I still dont see why people are okay that the only way to play Imperials is through paying an extra $20. That is just the height of nickel and diming I've seen in a subscription game.
