I still dont see why people are okay that the only way to play Imperials is through paying an extra $20. That is just the height of nickel and diming I've seen in a subscription game.
"ability to play as Imperials regardless of alliance"
That kind of implies that you can play as an Imperial normally (why wouldn't you be able to? You have in the last games), just only in a specific faction. That's the same for every other race.

OT: Looks cool but there's still no way I'm getting this as long as there are sub fees. Even then, I'm not sure if I would. Elder Scrolls just isn't Elder Scrolls when there's 100's of other people running around. Who knows? Maybe they'll be very successful, the game will turn out great, and they'll get rid of the sub fees. Until that's happened, I have almost no interest in this game.

I hope The Imperial Edition comes to PC. I love getting the Collector's Editions of games. One thing that bugged me about the Skyrim CE and most likely this CE too is that there isn't a soundtrack with it. I feel that every CE should have the soundtrack included or some selected songs.
I agree... I love it when they include soundtracks. I STILL have the Witcher 2 soundtrack in my cars CD player!

You don't have to see that, though. if they deliver on their promise of the megaserver, you can phase out anything you don't want to see. For example, you can select to only encounter RP'ers, or maybe even only your friends.
Guh....wh...wut?

You've frothed my loins. Please don't tell me you're just joking. I'll be able to filter the background noise of clowns who seem to exist simply to be idiots?

This could make my head explode with excitement...

You will never convince me to buy it (at least not until they go free to play)
Why? I am NOT going to spend 60+ dollars on something only to have them limit me to what I can and cannot do with my property; unless I pay them 15 dollars a month.

That's like saying "Here's a new heart! Pay us 40 dollars a month or you die!"

Even saying that, though, I want to play it. I really do. But I can't justify that purchase.

My keen gamer instincts tell me that if this game is a success, that Bethesda will scratch and future single player TES games.

I doubt this, since AFAIK it's not even the core Bethesda team that is developing this. However, we may expect a Fallout Online if this is successful.

I'm not yanking your chain, pulling your leg, rattling your cage or joking. Zenimax Online has stated that initially you'll be matched up with players similar to yourself (age, preferences, friends), you basically fill out a survey. The server will remember players you've encountered before and place you in the same phase as them if possible (unless you block them). This is more or less guaranteed, they have also stated that you should be able to customize the social aspect even further, but wether or not that's integrated into the game is yet to be seen.

Oh, *WOWWW*.

I was just hoping for the ability to screen certain people from view, but my boyfriend and I can also specifically associate with other Gen X'rs, role-players, and those wanting immersion?

*WANT*. *WANT SO BAAAAD*....

That's the general idea, yeah.

This game is will probably sell decently for the first week or three but after that, people will abandon it like a leaky ship. The gameplay is a mix of WoW and P2P. It certainly looks al right but I don't think I could bear to pay to play it and it is going to be a subscription based game.

They could have made it significantly better by doing away with the class system entirely and had an EVE like skill system where you could level up what skills you wanted to make whatever character you wanted. A heavily armoured mage for example. Or an axe specialised assassin and so on and so forth. But no, it's a class based F2P MMO in all but name. Avoid!
This comment just reeks of someone who actually has never seen ESO in action. It plays almost nothing like WoW and a lot more like Skyrim with special skills. You can use any combination of class/race/armor/weapon you want and the game will still be viable. Granted there will be optimal setups, but there's nothing stopping you from playing as a sorceror wearing full heavy armor and a 2h battleaxe
Yet I did. When you play the beta you see your user name on the screen in such a manner to make it borderline impossible to take a screen shot without them knowing who you are. But yeah, the game reeked of F2P. This game is not TES. It's an MMO. A F2P MMO at that.

What does "reeked of F2P" even mean?

It feels a LOT more like Skyrim than any other MMO I've ever played...

So it's $160 for this and then because I live in Australia it will probably be another $30 a month just to play it. I think I might give it a miss until it hopefully becomes free to play.

Bet they won't, Zenimax likes money too much. Whilst a MMO can generate a lot in subscriptions the costs of keeping the servers up is gargantuan too. Only Actiblizzard has managed to make their MMO replace normal retail games entirely.

Whether Bethesda likes it or not Zenimax will want the fire and forget profitability of the stand alone Elder Scrolls series, particularly when all three Zenimax Elder Scrolls games have had very long tails sales wise.

Im getting second thoughts about the game, this imperial edition stuff kinda shows what they have planned.

While I don't mind the sub fee, I was kinda expecting the inital price to go down for pre-order (like around $45, after all FF XIV was at least < $30).

Also, it doesn't feel right to pay them $20 for a, from what I understand, a unique class. Its starting to feel like a cash grab. While i really want to try the game, not sure if really matches the quality of the price, plus now Im afraid its going to nickle and dime like crazy.

If you pre-order from Green Man Gaming you save 25%... At least, I got an email from them today with a special voucher for it 25% off, I don't know what you have to do to get that voucher from them though.

Also while I agree that locking the Imperials behind a collector edition is kind of a dick move... I don't personally give a rat's ass about the imperials and I wasn't planning on playing them anyway so that doesn't really bother me too much.

M$ has Bethsoft in it's pocket, so we know the Xbone will have either the same, or a better/different package. Amazon seems to be slipping up a lot, and usually in favor of the customer. I approve.

Quality of the game aside, how was this "leaked"? I got this info in an email because I signed up for updates. That's hardly a leak...

Though if we're bitching about ESO in general (from the sound of things) i'm not happy about the lack of nightvision. Really not happy about that at all.

just checked, I don't have a coupon and its the standard price.

I didn't really care for the Imperials themselves, but it feels bad to put them as a unique "reward". Also the mount, under my impression, seems to be a mount you get at lvl 1 that is the best mount you can get in game. also how strong are the rings of mara? that could be a big deal too. Its just the kind of practice that leaves a bad taste, you know? its almost like a P2W (though not there), its saying "the more money you pay us, the cooler stuff you get", which completely defeats the purpose of a sub-based game.

I was a my local EB games store (video game and entertainment software retailer) earlier today, and got a list of upcoming PC releases that can be pre-ordered atm, and on that list was a listing for Elder S/O Impe with a retail value of $149.95AUD.
So I can confirm that there is a PC version of the Imperial Edition, however i don't know if the contents are different.
