The thread getting buried is my concern: this is exciting news for Portal fans, and if the thread gets lost then so does the discovery.

I'd prefer it if the actual reporters got on it, because then it would be on the front page for all interested parties to have a gander at!

Oh don't get me wrong, I wasn't criticising your thread and I'm sorry if that's how it came across. I was criticising the mods here, I've seen them lock many threads that "broke" a story here before it appeared as official news.

I didn't take it as criticism, I was just covering my own back. And that's a shame, but I guess there's reasoning to it: it's better to keep the news-based discussion to a single thread than have various little back-and-forths all over site.
