How in the world do they expect to make a free for all zombie killfest less bloody and more child friendly. I mean COME ON!!! HOW!?
I could see them removing the blood and making it so you can't shoot limbs off for starters, censoring any foul language... the list goes on and on. You may get to play the game in Aussie land, but that isn't much of a victory because I fear that L4D2 won't be L4D2 when it's released.
To those in Aussie land, please forgive my language, but... THAT REALLY SUCKS!!!
That is all the stuff that makes zombie survival games fun!

I don't know how the Classification Board works there, but if it's anything like the ESRB they tend to not play the games they rate after they classify them. The solution is simple. Present a watered-down version, get that approved, release the uncensored version anyway. It's a tired-and-true hollywood method.

I hope they don't appease them.....This won't be good if Australia continues their JackThompsonian crusade.

I can't say anything on behalf of the Australians, and maybe Valve is just trying to squeeze some money from them, but it's good to see Valve fighting for its products, even if it means loading your gun full of crayons (cookie for the reference).

So in Australia...when you watch stuff like The Sopranos...is this what you see?

Of course...that is a parody...but this might actually be "quality" Australian television...
Strangely enough, when it comes to cinema here you can have as much sex, blood, cum, violence, all in the same move as much as you want. It's because it isn't an "interactive medium" according to our government that it allows such a double standard.

As long as the modification they made was minor, like what they did to scrape Fallout 3 through, I'd just be happy to be able to play L4D2.

You forgot to mention that all the zombies would be replaced by Teletubbies [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.144586?page=1]
Hehehe. I thought it was that the zombie warning music had to be done on the wobble board.

Do ya know what it is yet? :)
I do not sadly.

...I want a game that shoots rainbow pellets.
If your getting the game on PC, then there will probably be a mod for it.

Hell, if I can get a Hello Kitty AK-47 in Counter-Strike, rainbow pellets don't seem that outragous.

Golly, isn't censorship just great.
It's like over here in Germany, you get Fallout 3 without the Bloody Mess perk (or any blood/gore at all (not sure, I have the US version)), GoW is banned and Wolfenstein isn't about Nazis but some fictional evil dudes in a fictional world.

Then I go to the movies and see Inglourious Basterds, complete with swastikas and the brutal killing of Adolf Hitler.
Hooray for consistency.

I am always perplexed by the fact that the rational adults of Australia haven't violently ousted the government. Oh, right, rational adults in Australia? Bahahahah!(outside gamers of course)

Germany and Australia are interchangable.
It's as they say; no matter who you vote for the government always gets in. Strangely enough, R18+ classification for video games isn't high on their list of priorities. I mean who really cares if our country slips into recession anyway?

What actually perplexes me is that we have a very strong representation of gaming companies located here and if anyone should be pushing the censorship barrow it is them, yet it is my understanding that they do next to nothing about it.

Prepare to see tonnes of Aussies in your neighborhood after their gov't bans gaming. You know that where they're headed and when they ban gaming theres going to be mass fleeing.

That's a harsh blow, and it's not exactly true, we're moving toward China more than Germany.

I'm not sure if thats better or worse.

Wow, I think Valve just replaced Blizzard on my list of companies that care the most about their gamers.

Sucking China's dick, lets see... Internet filter, trying to police the citizens, increasing ties with a communist nation.
I understood that, I was confused about which country you were talking about. I dearly hope you're not really comparing Germany to a communist nation, because if you were, I'd have to gently break to you that you're full of crap. -.-
