How about you ditch the acheviements system as well and just unlock everything at start
Yes. Especially since the unlockables just allow different styles of play.

anything extra should be a REWARD. The word reward implies something given to encourage/thank players for doing well. A random system dose no such thing, it's all luck. And when something is determined by luck then it's no reward of skill at all.

That being said, things that actually affect game play should be open to everyone. Only cosmetic or "for fun" things should be rewards. For example, what if the top 10% of players got a over powered weapon. Then because of said over powered weapon no one could beat them. You end up in a "the rich get richer" situation where the older more experienced players get all the good stuff and new players can't, not due to inexperience but because of lack of said stuff.

The unlockables are not supposed to be superior, they are supposed to be an alternative. A new player would not be disadvantaged due to a lack of equipment.
Who'd use the Syringe Gun rather than the Blutsauger?

This thread confuses me, when you get the Achievement Milestones for each class you get the weapons anyway, you don't have to rely on random drops. Also, I hope they do ditch the random drop system, I hate facing up against enemy scouts with the Force-a-Nature when I havent found it yet

Thank God, item trading was the worst idea they ever came up with because by the time Valve bring it out everyone will have 14 million of every item anyway.
