Significant content for L4D1 was promised, and never delivered. True
Valve put little faith in L4D1 since they almost certainly started working on L4D2 right after release. Probably not true, but I can see why they would think that
The fact that L4D2 is nearly identical to L4D1 will decimate the community for both games. Kinda true
The announced date is not nearly enough time to polish content or make significant gameplay changes. They might have a point
The new character designs seem bland and unappealing so far. Patience, morons
L4D2 is too colourful to fit in with L4D1's visual aesthetic. We've seen two levels. Shut up and die
The fiddle-based horde music is extremely disliked, though the differently orchestrated music is otherwise welcome. Agreed. Oh god, do I agree.
L4D2's release will result in a drop in quality and frequency for L4D1 content, even compared to before. Again, they might have a point
The community has lost faith in Valve's former reputation for commitment to their games post-release. Oh please. This will do dick to Valve's rep

I can see where they're coming from, but they're over reacting.

If they dont like it, THEN DONT BLOODY PLAY IT.
Just wondering, do you know what boycotting is? That's exactly what they're doing. They're refusing to buy and play L4D2.

I don't care about them though, I intend to play it.

Wasn't Left 4 Dead a test anyway?
That wasn't really made clear to most of the gaming public.

I'll be ok with L4D2 if it is either a: expansion pack priced, or b: heavily discounted for owners of L4D. I'm thinking b is the better option, since it would allow for a longer game, while not screwing over people who bought L4D expecting a longer shelf life.

Yeah, I must say, I was expecting this to be about the no episode 3 business. Oh well, I'll support them, but just for a different reason.

I don't think they're complaining about the fact that it's being released quickly, but that it's being released quickly and that from what has been shown so far this looks like nothing more then the same game with a few new weapons/locales. And considering Valves efforts with TF2 releasing new content/maps I think the community feels that they are effectively charging for content for L4D when they've done the same thing for free with TF2.

Making people pay for what they're used to getting for free is a bad business model and creates a lot of negative publicity. Look at what it's doing for the newspapers.

You smell that? Nerd rage, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that. I love the smell of nerd rage at midnight. Smells like.... lulz.

Once this thread peters out, someone should check things in a couple months once the Nerdrage Novelty wears off to see where the group is at. Online petitions, negative activist groups, Spartacus-like "I Quit!" threads - they all tend to have very short lifespan and are very rarely, if ever, effective against their intended target.

Lots of people will buy L4D2 - much more than the people looking to boycott it - and the snap reaction to what appeared to be only minutes of video and bits of E3 gameplay details is extremely premature, even if some of the points are actually arguable.

There's boycotting something based upon a principle set of beliefs, and then there's boycotting something because you have no idea what it is and want an outlet for your anger. Guess which one this is?

There is only one thing to say here: "CRY SOME MORE!!"

All that I've even seen for this game is an announcement that it exists and one teaser trailer. Valve hasn't even finished the game yet. All we have is a trailer and there already condemning it. This is so stupid.

Actually the banjo music playing in the background when a horde comes in L4D2 does really suck and it breaks the immersion, but I'm still gonna get the game :)

Two backlashes in a month? Blimey. Ah well, they fixed the last one (and the one before that) know doubt they'll fix this.

This is something of an over reaction. I mean, this is Valve, the game won't land until 2010 at the earliest. Name me one new game of their's that's shipped on time. Although hopefully they will put some new stuff out for L4D. It'd be a right gip if that's Valve's new definition of a full price game.

#Edit.

I wonder how much of this is because players bought the game at full price (£50 here) knowing it was a very shortgamebut working on the assumption it would expand. Left 4 Dead wasn't so great if you dropped £50 into the equation.

When I saw the title, I thought it would be fans that are pissed because there's no Half-life 2 episode 3 title announced.
