Cut off the head of the snake and the body dies.... and if it grows a new head, just keep cutting
You don't really believe they did it because they were worried about thier image do you? They just bought the best advertising money really can buy for a fraction what another company would pay. And the second company still wouldn't get this kind of good publicity.SomeBritishDude said:This is why Valve is brilliant. Most company's wouldn't give a shit (the boycott is a very small minority of the overall market, plus I imagine many of them will buy the game anyway). It just shows how focused Valve are on not only making great games, but having a great public image too.
Lets found a "Boycott Half-Life 2: Episode 3 Group" and get flown out to Valve HQ and shown the game, go go go!George144 said:Quick I need to start Boycotting Half-Life 3!
But yeah this is why I love Valve
Sadly this seems to work in other areas too, I was at a baseball game once with my friends, when they started harassing the umpire as he walked by. They kept pleading and begging for a game ball as I told them to just shut the hell up, and the bastard actually gave them a ball! Sometimes being an asshole works it seems....Machines Are Us said:So two people bitching about the game, basically saying they don't want it to exist, get rewarded by being flown out to see the game first hand? If I'd known that could happen I'd ***** more often.
Unless of course those two 'members' were actually Valve employees who faked joining and they did this as a PR stunt to make the boycotter's STFU.
I really do believe this is a PR stunt indeed.Machines Are Us said:Unless of course those two 'members' were actually Valve employees who faked joining and they did this as a PR stunt to make the boycotter's STFU.
You mean HL2:EP3?Wakefield said:Yes I was upset that a year after l4d came out there's a sequel.. Because I'd rather see Hl3 but I guess that's harder cause they have a story to follow.
These were people demanding a free game. I fail to see how that level of self-entitlement should be rewarded. Yes it was very classy of Valve, but I don't think acting like a dick should get you flown out somewhere. Leading a group of trolls that attack L4D1 servers because they wouldn't join their little club definitely falls under the category of "things you shouldn't be given a reward for"matrix3509 said:Yeah, I mean how dare Valve actually...you know, listen to their fans about something they are genuinely concerned about. I mean who the fuck do they think they are trying to be? A successful game company? Ridiculous?
In case you people haven't realized yet (and from the amount of ignorant posts on this thread, you haven't), Valve could have been like every other (asshole) game developer on the face of the planet, and completey ignored them. Instead they took the high ground, and offered to prove these fan's concerns unfounded. No other developer that has ever existed would do the same. So major kudos to Valve, you stay classy.
I lol'd. I noticed that too - "What is that on his shirt?"CantFaketheFunk said:(And to, uh ... wash your shirt.)
You should boycott their games.The_Oracle said:This defies logic. So, these guys complain, WAY more than some of the other L4D boycotters, and because their wails of doom are the loudest, and because their arrogant, pretentious doomsaying was the best, they get an all-access pass to investigate L4D2? What about us? What about the L4D fans that actually like the franchise and trust the developers? What about those that have remained faithful since the beginning?
I'm sorry, but what about us?
