I totally boycott the existence of the foul L4D2! The only way valve will convince me otherwise is to fly me out to their HQ and let me play it first hand. Wait...

I think I found the REAL reason people were protesting:p

P.S. For F$%^'s sake Gabe, wash your damn shirt.

This is why Valve is brilliant. Most company's wouldn't give a shit (the boycott is a very small minority of the overall market, plus I imagine many of them will buy the game anyway). It just shows how focused Valve are on not only making great games, but having a great public image too.
You don't really believe they did it because they were worried about thier image do you? They just bought the best advertising money really can buy for a fraction what another company would pay. And the second company still wouldn't get this kind of good publicity.

I am starting to get a funny feeling the leaders of the boycott may be a bit closer t ovalve than the press anfd themselves have lead us to believe. Or they are just a couple prostitutes.

Quick I need to start Boycotting Half-Life 3!

But yeah this is why I love Valve
Lets found a "Boycott Half-Life 2: Episode 3 Group" and get flown out to Valve HQ and shown the game, go go go!

OT: So they basically admitted the game isn't being rushed, looks very good, and their complaints are utterly and completely void and without merit and yet they still want to keep the boycott going...Good for them, 40,000 less retards I have to play L4D2 with.

So two people bitching about the game, basically saying they don't want it to exist, get rewarded by being flown out to see the game first hand? If I'd known that could happen I'd ***** more often.

Unless of course those two 'members' were actually Valve employees who faked joining and they did this as a PR stunt to make the boycotter's STFU.
Sadly this seems to work in other areas too, I was at a baseball game once with my friends, when they started harassing the umpire as he walked by. They kept pleading and begging for a game ball as I told them to just shut the hell up, and the bastard actually gave them a ball! Sometimes being an asshole works it seems....

Uh oh. The heads of the complaining committee get flown out and given a tour of the L4D2 development staff?

Well, that's certainly gonna incite complaints even more. But it does give me an idea....

*goes to complain about Universal Studios*

member of the L4D2 boycott here. Now before you flame me hear me out.

Yes I was upset that a year after l4d came out there's a sequel.. Because I'd rather see Hl3 but I guess that's harder cause they have a story to follow.

I didn't see any point to it, but if Valve is willing to fly 2 people who hated it to prove them wrong then I guess I was wrong.

There you see people can admit they're wrong. I just did. I will drop out of the l4d boycott group and I will be getting this game.

I really do believe this is a PR stunt indeed.

Yeah, I mean how dare Valve actually...you know, listen to their fans about something they are genuinely concerned about. I mean who the fuck do they think they are trying to be? A successful game company? Ridiculous?

In case you people haven't realized yet (and from the amount of ignorant posts on this thread, you haven't), Valve could have been like every other (asshole) game developer on the face of the planet, and completey ignored them. Instead they took the high ground, and offered to prove these fan's concerns unfounded. No other developer that has ever existed would do the same. So major kudos to Valve, you stay classy.

These were people demanding a free game. I fail to see how that level of self-entitlement should be rewarded. Yes it was very classy of Valve, but I don't think acting like a dick should get you flown out somewhere. Leading a group of trolls that attack L4D1 servers because they wouldn't join their little club definitely falls under the category of "things you shouldn't be given a reward for"

Hell, the press release stuff regarding L4D2, the upcoming DLC for L4D1, and other preview material alone already proved the boycott movement was toothless and incapable of being taken seriously, so I guess this was Valve's way of both being informative while continuing to twist the knife on a group of people who had a knee-jerk reaction to E3

You seem to think the boycott had merit. Most of the posts here seem to think otherwise. If this movement had started now, or even last month, maybe there would've been something to it (well, Valve would have to have not shown anything regarding L4D2 until now), but as it stands the movement was formed directly as the result of an announcement at E3 and was formed to protest a game they knew zero about, and that only ends badly. It's the kind of thing those people who protested Mass Effect for the "gratuitous amounts of sex" it didn't have would do.

And ultimately, given that the group is now fighting amongst itself because of this, it just proves the boycott was ill-informed and a bad idea overall.

Except for getting a free trip to Valve, apparently.

Valve flew them...?

*ahem*

Mass Effect 2 is going to suck balls! What the hell are BioWare doing? They should be making new content for the first game instead of a shitty, rushed sequel!! Rabble, rabble, rabble!!!

PLANE TICKET PLEASE

There's so many ignorant and misinformed people on this forum...

I guess its a little funny, in a pathetic kind of way... but its mostly sad...

I could sit here an correct all the little misinformed posters, but whats the point really. You gobbled up the negative view fed to you by the gaming media, and are happy to just have something you can tear down.

This defies logic. So, these guys complain, WAY more than some of the other L4D boycotters, and because their wails of doom are the loudest, and because their arrogant, pretentious doomsaying was the best, they get an all-access pass to investigate L4D2? What about us? What about the L4D fans that actually like the franchise and trust the developers? What about those that have remained faithful since the beginning?

I'm sorry, but what about us?
You should boycott their games.

Not so that you'll get invited,

but to restore balance to the force.
