I not sure about viruses, but there is lags with stream or I just have a bad computer. Anyways Im getting a new one soon.ookie37 said:nothing has ever given me more viruses or lag then having a steam account. i would not wish that on anybodies PS3. On the flip side, i do want portals.... conundrums...
As someone who will be playing Portal 2 on a PC, why should I care if PS3 players get to choose whether they want to play on their console or their computer? I'm not interested in playing the game on a console that I don't even have, so it's not like I'm missing out on anything. It's not even the "same amount of money" either, since the PC version will cost less, and if I wait some months, Valve will likely put it on sale at a greatly discounted price through Steam, as they usually do with their games.Logan Westbrook said:This news probably won't be quite as popular with Xbox 360 and PC players, however, as they will have to fork out the same amount of money as PS3 owners in exchange for significantly less content.
I replied to the claim that that the ps3 version costs as much as the pc version and that the pc version gets less content. The pc version is cheaper then the ps3 version and both aren't the version with the most content.jboking said:360 owner?Riff Moonraker said:Good for them, I will just refuse to purchase Portal 2, then.
In order to use the hydra levels, don't you have to own a hydra? Meaning that your purchase of Portal 2 goes from $50 to $100 (that's not paying less than console gamers anymore)? Either way, since buying the PS3 version gives you access to the PC version, you also can have the hydra levels if you want them. Boot up your free PC copy and go get the hydra. Bam, you have hydra levels.GiantRedButton said:Wont the pc version be alot cheaper like every other game?Logan Westbrook said:This news probably won't be quite as popular with Xbox 360 and PC players, however, as they will have to fork out the same amount of money as PS3 owners in exchange for significantly less content.
Also the version with most content is the version with the razer hydra, that offers additional levels and new mechanics like motion controls and scaling blocks etc.
So they pay more for less content.
Still pretty good deal though. They propably want to convert a few playstation gamers. Totally get what you mean.
Everyone that owns a PS3 and PC should just buy the PS3 version and whala... a copy for each.karloss01 said:nice to hear but what i want to know is does this offer work both ways? as in you buy the PC version and link you PSN account and get a PS3 copy of the game. if not seems a bit unfair for the other two platforms.
Well, unfortunately gamers won't see it that way, lolMaxPowers666 said:Wow this is not at all tempting me to buy portal 2 at all.
This is not in any way shape or form an appology to ps3 players, its 100% pure marketing. By giving away a free pc version that they know the majority of people wont use it will help their image. Those that do decide to use the pc version it means they have to install steam and it gives them another potential customer. Because hey actually having steam one your computer is one step closer to getting people to buy games from them.
Adding the ps3-pc crossover will again help with their sales. As seen in this thread a lot of people who would have just bought the pc version are seriously considering paying more for the ps3 one which gives them both. This is a bonus to vavle because really only an idiot would buy the exact same game for two different systems.
Honestly I dont care, the game is in no way shape or form worth the $50-60 they will charge for it.
What's wrong with cross-console co-op? Or cross-console multiplayer? I honestly think its a step in the right direction. This way, it won't matter what system you buy. If a game is on multiple consoles, you can play with all your Xbox owning friends if you have a Wii or a PS3 (ideally).USSR said:PSN and PC - Portal co-op?
Not sure how I feel about that.
It's a different version all together for the hydra? That would appear to make it cost more than the Console version and being separated from the normal PC version means it likely wont get the same number of mods. The PS3 version is all of $10 more expensive than the PC version and comes with the PC version. That's two copies of the game, which means two different control methods and one of which has mods. It would appear that there is more content in buying the PS3 version.GiantRedButton said:I replied to the claim that that the ps3 version costs as much as the pc version and that the pc version gets less content. Sure you can buy the game and some other stuff and then pay more then a console game, but you either don't pay as much or get more content.
Also the version with hydra support is a diverent one from the standart pc one.
So you won't be able to use your ps3 bonus copy with it.
Also the bundle costs 100 dollar, since the ps3 game is more expensive to begin with and you will lose the bundle discount, it isn't really viable.
So there would be some benefit to including the ps3 version with the pc version (not just the other way around)
Though i don't really care.
My point was that the pc version is cheaper and has potential extra levels. so you dont pay just as much for less content, but you pay less for the same or more content depening on what hardware you have.
I doubt it. They're using account linking, not vouchers, so I suspect that it'll be a similar situation to what they already have on Steam, where only one copy can be running at once per account.Sean Strife said:For those of you complaining about getting the PS3 version to get the PC version for free if you plan on getting the PC version anyways... you could always, you know, buy the PS3 version, unlock the PC version for free, and then just take the PS3 copy down to GameStop or whatever and trade it in.
Herp derp.
