Videogame Cliches Quiz

Cliches, conventions and traditions. There's a fine line between the power of an archetype and the lazy paint-by-numbers approach to game design. This week we're celebrating the overused, underappreciated tropes of the gaming world. Whether it's amnesia, escort missions, or power-ups, videogames make use of a number of predictable and persistent concepts to solve common design problems and to give gamers a sense of security. So how much do you know about the standard clichés of the videogame world?

Jump in to our quiz to find out. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/quizzes/view/140-Videogame-Cliches] There just might be a badge in it for you.

Also, you can take the quiz as many times as you like but your total time will be cumulative. If you care about your spot on the leader board, make sure you use your other account to find the answers to the questions, and then use your real account to trick people into thinking you spent less than two seconds answering each question.

Enjoy!

You know what you get when Zelda tells the Hero of Time that she never loved him?

A broken Link.

I would post about your broken link, but Captcha just asked me to type "trappo helicopter" and i thought that was a good name for an Indie-pop-rock group.

Broken link. And WTF, you're allowed to have 2 accounts?? I always knew that's how the top people do it, but I didn't think that was legal!!

I think I see the problem. When putting in the "a href" tag, you forgot to put anything between the quotation marks, so now it tries to link me to the actual text.

In fact, it's written like this:
<a href="Jump in to our quiz to find out."

Yeah, I'm not so sure how I feel about being encouraged to "cheat" at the quiz. I'm sure it's not serious, but still.

This isn't as much a quiz about gaming cliches as it is about general gaming knowledge :S

Sorry for the broken link. It's fixed now. If you like, you may consider the brokenness to have been part of the quiz all along.

wow...is that what people really do to get fast scores?

I thought they were just really bookish and smart and had a fast internet connection. I have none of these.

Oh...and the link is broken.
Yeah it was really noticeable on the last video quiz it had a 30 second add pop before the video for all the questions would even start that you'd need to see for each question and there were several top rankers with under 30-45 seconds overall times with 10/10s so it's either the Devil's blind luck or or multiple accounts.(I'm sure it's sorta frowned upon using multiple accounts for unfair advantages like this but I don't think there's any rule against it since there isn't a limited number of rewards/winners.)
