Villains that really successfully made you HATE them

Video games: Kesler from Infamous. Although he gave Cole his powers with the Ray Sphere, thus destroying a city, killing Cole's and his love in order to make Cole the super weapon he needed to be is just down right wrong. Not to mention the boss battle was a tough to complete.
Television: Since Joffrey is taken I'll go to the Sci-fi realm and go with the Replicators from Stargate SG-1. Nothing says evil like billions of machines trying to eliminate all races in the galaxy. Thanks to the Ancient weapon on Dakara to eliminate those buggers was great.
Movies: I'm gonna be obvious and say Heath Ledger's Joker. Need I say more.

I came into this thread expecting every other post to mention Joffrey Beratheon, and I was not disappointed, I would also like to say Joffrey Beratheon, Cersei can't take all the credit, that one scene in season 2 with the two whores in his room I found genuinely unnerving

Umbridge, or Umbitch as I prefer to refer to her as, is probably one fictional character I hate the most.

Her crimes:

She loved and played an active part in the persecution and genocide of Muggleborns in DH.
She ordered the Dementor attack on Harry in OTTP and had no problems about murdering a 15 year old child.
She delights in abusing children (Acting all sweet when she does).
She enjoys ruining people's lives by firing them and just being generally nasty.
To top it off she's a down right racist and a controlling *****.

Yawgmoth and Nicol Bolas from M:TG

Yawgmoth was a manipulative bastard, so is Bolas...but GOD! I hate Bolas so much more. He is so condescending.

Nicol Bolas is like the only character I can think of who would sound like a jerk no matter what he does. Even if all he did was give you a back rub, feed you ice cream, and say have a nice day.

I have to agree with you on Yawgmoth.

He really was such a bastard and I couldn't believe how he manipulated himself to the top and practically got away with....well...without going into spoilers, killing people. I was actually impressed with how he managed to do it too.

Poor Glacian and Rebbec though.

Honestly, I didn't even know if I should've trusted him or Glacian until the very end, and I have to respect that.

I loved seeing his transformation from struggling family man to ruthless drug lord but he is just despicable now.

And although you could argue that he's not necessarily a villain, Tywin Lannister from A Song of Ice and Fire. He's a heartless dick that completely screwed up his kids. What really drove it home was Tyrion's story about what happened with Tysha, which was absolutely sick.

It's been so long since I've played he game, but I still recall wanting to have this character dead. Heck, of the character's, he's the only one who's name I remember. He killed off the green dragoon, which was my favorite of the bunch, and I just swore vengeance on him. Once the arc with him was over, I stopped playing the game. It just wasn't the same when he wasn't my target.

Even though I criticized Mass Effect 3 for a lot of things, I gotta say I applaud Bioware for making Kai Lang so easy to hate. There is not a single redeeming thing about him. I hate 100% of Kai Lang. Everything he did and said just made it worse and the hate I felt for Kai Lang was increasing rapidly. Incidentally, so did my hate for Bioware, but that's a whole other issue.

That's true.

I wanted someone to do something about Yawgmoth and that no one was listening to Glacian, but then there were times where I thought that he was just being incredibly bitter and not listening to reason.

It was such a great read.

Orsino in Dragon Age 2.

Say what you will about DA2, but the fact is, having the leader of the mages turn himself into a fucking Harvester because he couldn't handle the stress of winning the fight against Meredith because Meredith is so stupid that her strategy amounts to "send a small group of Templars into fight at a time, watch the mages curbstomp them, repeat process", only to then proceed, now that he's a fucking Harvester, to kill the mages instead of the templars, is a really stupid fucking thing and made me hate him more than anyone else in the story.

All this after having spent the entire game apparently being the only mage in Kirkwall aside from Bethany/Hawke to champion not complete Mage freedom (which is stupid) but to champion compromise.

Goddamnit Orsino, you were the only one I liked aside from the Arishok, and at least I could respect the Arishok for what he did.

I think alot of that was for the wrong reasons (mainly being.."heres this guy! he's your rival now..cool?..cool")....as well as the right reasons though

at least Voldemort is aware he is a vile bastard..and simply does not care

Umbridge wraps it all up in a "morally superior, mummy knows best" way which makes her worse...its interesting how its easyer to hate the latter than it is the former

Joffrey's a dick, yes. But you haven't seen jack shit until you come across Ramsay Snow (it's snow damn you! I'm not fucking calling him bolton!). Joffrey was a sadistic little shit, but he was to a large degree incompetent, unintelligent, and a huge coward. Ramsay is serious business. He's twice as sadistic, much, much cleverer, and he prefers to do most of his dirty work himself.

Come on, he kidnaps a grieving widow, rapes her, forces her to marry him, then leaves her locked in a tower to rot, just to get his hands on some land, and it looks like he may have been planning to do the same to "arya stark"

Oh God yes, I didn't think Martin would ever be able to make me feel sorry for Theon Greyjoy after what he did to Winterfell... but he managed it.
