I liked Chronicles, but it was a fairly mindless action movie, although set in a more interesting universe than most.

Not really the universe of Pitch Black, and Riddick wasn't the same character, though.

I'd like to see more Riddick. I hope they make this and that it does the character justice. Though, I'd like it if they didn't make this into a saving his home planet thing. I'd much rather see him doing the "right thing" for the wrong reason. Don't get me wrong, I don't think Riddick should be a sociopath (he wasn't in Pitch Black when it came down to it), but I don't see him as a hero. Maybe an anti-hero, if they play it right.

Oh hell yea!

This almost makes up for the fact that Arnold put his comeback on hold..
He'll be back.. I know he will!!

I liked both movies, but Pitch Black just better. Chronicles was a mishmash of cheezy sci-fi and fantasy epic tropes (see spacehunter, krull) but it was still fun.

I'm surprised that Vin Diesel is reluctant to return to the role. Didn't he essentially fund a games company so they could make a Riddick game?

Can only hope he will agree.. Pitch Black is without a doubt (at least for me) the best movie he has been in..

I would really like to see him in something good, instead on the crappy fast and furious serie

Indeed, whats with all the Chronicles hate, it was not as good as Pitch Black but still decent. Abit mindless but still alright.

I love Vin, the dudes so likable... at least from what I have seen in interveiws and stuff and as we all know they never lie.

Hell. Fucking. Yes.

Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick are two of my favorite movies. Never watched Dark Fury, though. Don't care much for japanamation. One thing, they need to find a way to connect Dark Athena to Pitch Black... I didn't sleep for a week trying to figure that one out...

Why does everyone get their elitist panties in a twist about Chronicles? I enjoyed it far more that Pitch Black. Pitch Black was just a generic "Stranded on an alien planet with, wait for it, man eating aliens" movie. I liked it - it wasn't bad. Chronicles though, created a dark futuristic atmosphere. Riddick also kicked some awesome amounts of ass. The fact that it had Karl Urban and Judy Dench were massive bonuses.

I posted this on Vin Diesel's facebook page. I'm not usually much of a fanboy, but a 3rd movie would be sweet!

"Ok, so post No. 7,855. Bro - You ARE Riddick, and my man, Riddick is a Bad Ass Mofo. He is also, in my opinion, the greatest anti-hero of all time, and certainly the best at the moment. I liked Pitch Black... But I LOVED Chronicles, not only because you unleashed the furion, but you had Judy Dench, and our own boy - Karl Urban. To put it another way though - I would go to the movies to watch Riddick AND I'll buy it on DVD as I already own both of your other Riddick movies"

I'd love to see another Riddick movie.

The only thing I never want to see again in a Riddick movie: That fucking god awful color filter from the first half of Pitch Black. Yes, I know, the Suns and whatnot. I don't care, it's ugly as sin.

Dr. McD said:
Actually it was so that bad games couldn't be made from his movies, the games have their flaws (especially Assault on Dark Athena), but they're better than most licensed games.
Either way it makes him seem like he has an interest in the character beyond just playing him, which is why I was surprised to read about his reluctance.

I saw Chronicles in the theatres, only just saw Pitch Black a week or two ago.

If they're making a third one then I'm both excited and a little worried.

Still, let's see what they come up with.

I thought the 2nd one was pretty darn cool, so whatever... I'd still watch an R rated 3rd.
