Violinist Returns to Kokiri Forest in Ocarina of Time Cover

Violinist Taylor Davis has released a new video showcasing her cover of Ocarina of Time's Kokiri Forest Theme

<a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/3780-The-Legend-of-Zelda-Ocarina-of-Time-3D>The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is, for many gamers (present company included), the pinnacle of the Zelda franchise. From its open to its end it broke the mold, set it on fire and then launched the ashes into space riding on a starship powered by the sheer force of awesome game making. One of the things key to its success, of course, was its soundtrack which pretty much hit all the right notes at all the right moments. Case in point, the Kokiri Forest theme opened the player's experience with the sort whimsical adventure those first minutes exemplified. Simply put, it was a great song that made things more fun.

It should be no surprise, in turn, that Taylor Davis's recent released music video showcasing her cover of the classic song, is also a joy to watch. Featuring the violinist in full cosplay, her take on the expands on the original version, coupling its stuck-in-your-brain-for-days melody with her own bits of musical flair. The arguable highlight though, is Davis herself who seems to be having a genuinely good time playing her instrument as well as running around the woods dressed as Link. Granted, it's a tad similar to what she did in her <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/131534-The-Legend-of-Zelda-Goes-Live-Action-in-Gerudo-Valley-Violin-Video>Gerudo Valley video, but it's fun and we're not going to complain.

It's worth noting, of course, that while this video is recent, Davis's Kokiri cover has been around for some time now and can purchased <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/129935-Melodies-of-Hyrule-Delivers-Violin-Covers-of-Classic-Zelda-Music>on iTunes as a part of her Melodies of Hyrule album which released back at the end of 2013. It's all good stuff and well worth a listen.

I love these videos for how delightfully cheesy they are. I love the parts where they imitate the OOT HUD.

The memories. Personally, my favorite is Saria's Song from that game, but this tune did do a great job of easing the player into the game world. Just running around the village and goofing off while you learned the controls. No better tune could be asked for.

Blasphemy! Everyone knows Link to the Past is the pinnacle of the franchise! There is no other truth than this.
