Viscera Cleanup Detail Is a Space Station Janitor Sim

Because someone has to clean up all of the blood and giblets following an alien onslaught.

When the dust settles on your average Space Marine vs Aliens onslaught, you are left with a lot of blood, giblets, and shell casings. Viscera Cleanup Detail asks the question that the likes of Dead Space and Halo never do: who cleans up the mess after Isaac or Master Chief has splattered the nice clean space station walls with exotic alien intestines?

"All hope was lost until one survivor found the courage to fight back and put the aliens in their place! It was a long and horrific battle as the survivor dueled with all manner of horrific life-forms and alien mutations, but our hero won out in the end and destroyed the alien menace! Humanity was saved! Unfortunately, the alien infestation and the heroic efforts of the courageous survivors have left rather a mess throughout the facility. As the janitor, it is your duty to get this place cleaned up"

Viscera Cleanup Detail is an open world sandbox game that puts you in the shoes of a janitor stationed on a science-fiction space station. You'll have to mop up blood, pick up giblets, and sweep away shells in order to get your station looking spic and span again.

The game was initially the result of a 10 day RuneStorm game-jam, but its free alpha is now Greenlight program [http://www.indiedb.com/games/viscera-cleanup-detail/downloads/viscera-cleanup-detail-alpha-v01].

The game is built with the Unreal development kit, and will hopefully grow into a full-blown title to satisfy your itch for cleaning.

Genius! Seriously, I would play the shit out of this game. It seems really functional, I'll definitely upvote it.

I wonder if any actual aliens will pop up. I hope not, I'm easily scared :(

This game appeals to my inner OCD (when it isn't cringing in horror over my room).

There are games for everything apparently.

This seems like it could be a really fun "kill some time" game. No baddies to fight, no girl to save, no alien invasion to thwart, just a man and his mop battling the bloody carnage left behind. So simple a concept, and yet it looks surprisingly entertaining.

Also, I can't help but think of the scene in Aliens 3 when the janitor is cleaning up the cafeteria after the bug pulled that guy up into the ceiling.

I will support this only as long as they leave that mop animation untouched. It is a thing of beauty, like I'm cleaning the blood off the space walls with a tiny, flailing octopus.

Definitely a game I plan on downloading. Looks like a mind numbing game. Love it.

Was anyone else frustrated that he didnt clean his mop as soon as it got dirty? And he didnt finish one task before starting a different one?

I actually played it, and its OCD's worst nightmare. Bullet casing everywhere and hidden blood in the poorly lit area. Even blood on the ceiling, which I had a ***** of a time getting to.

You get an awful surprise when you use the machines to get your buckets and biohazard crates. Took me about an hour and a half to get everything cleaned, and everything burned. All the crates and all the buckets I used.

The physics for full biohazard crates creates more frustration when they tip over and create huge messes you need to clean up again.

It kinda drives you to be that little cleaning robot from Wall-e, especially when things go wrong and you have to clean it all up again.
You've sold me on the concept. I'm going to download this as soon as I get home.

Oh God, why has my brain turned on me!? D:

If you think standard blood and body parts are bad wait till you have to deal with all that alien goop the Xenomorphs leave lying around.
