Visit the Midnight Hour With Persona 3 Anime Trailer


An animated adaptation of Persona 3 is hitting Japanese movie theaters this fall.

Persona 3, the Atlus JRPG in which Japanese high schoolers shoot themselves in the head to fight demons in a secret dungeon, is returning to Japan this fall--in movie form. Persona 3 The Movie #1: Spring of Birth was revealed today with a brief teaser trailer that is very much Persona, right down to the music.

Those who have played Persona 3 will recognize one of the game's prominent, catchy songs (of which the soundtrack has many) running through the trailer. There's also a glimpse of the silent protagonist, his Evoker (that gun pointed at his head), and his first persona, Orpheus.

Persona 3 The Movie #1: Spring Awakening will be directed by Noriaki Akitaya. This isn't the first time Atlus' Shin Megami Tensei: Persona series has gotten the anime treatment; there's already a Persona 4 anime, and Persona Trinity Soul is loosely based on the series. I'm not the biggest anime fan, but I am a huge Persona 3 fan, so I'm actually very curious to find out how the 100+ hour JPRG masterpiece works as an animated movie.

Yeah, but the Persona 4 anime was 26 episodes long. Even if there are 5 movies that's still just as much plot to fit into an even shorter time frame. I am sure it will be good, but I can't imagine it'll be an easy task to adapt.

Agree on that one. Well I guess they're going to cut some non essential stuff, maybe even cut some of non-team Social Links (which I would be super happy about, no more Kenji or Nozomi). I think 3 movies would work best. Movie 1-most Full Moon operations and appearance of Aigis. Movie 2-remaining Full Moons. Movie 3-All that Nyx and Ryoji stuff and ending. And maybe bonus Movie 4 dedicated to The Answer.

And if they did they would have to show all the times that each of the female links gets annoyed because you had to start dating another because the game doesn't let you choose whether or not to start dating them when you reach rank 6. Seriously, Yuko ended up hating me for about 70% of the game. By the end I just gave up trying to make up with her and completed the social links of the girls who didn't seem to mind my enforced polygamy so much, like Yukari and Fuuka.

I really hope they will do something similar to Female Protagonist route in P3P, where most of Social Links are represented by SEES. And, I guess canonically Protagonist ends up romancing Yukari, so they will probably go with her.

Feels bro. It sucks when a game that's already localized in your language isn't released in your country for digital download no less. Though, I've heard its easy to make a psn account tied to another country

Really interested in seeing this (that is if I ever get the chance) and how they are able to actually cram all of P3's content in a bunch of movies what with all the social links and such. I also wonder if they will just be doing the orignial Persona 3 or the FES content as well.

Wouldn't Persona 3: Velvet Edition have a better ring to it? After all they already have P3P as a portable incarnation of P3 for Vita and PSP (Not as good as the original and FES games though).
