One of the more satisfying things for me in any video game is when I hear a voice actor actually sound angry. A lot of the times, a video game voices equivalent of anger is this forced and awkward slightly raised voice.
It is always nice to hear them cut loose and actually sound angry(Even if the in-game animation can't always keep up) or have them actually yell. It always helps to raise the tension in a scene up a little bit more. It is a shame that the way most companies handle voice acting, sort of goes against this. The way they hand over scripts the day of, just reading lines in a booth all in one shot, no interaction with other voice actors.
I wonder if that is why the Legacy of Kain series is my favorite for voice acting, they were all given their scripts ahead of time and interacted with each other in the same room while reading their lines. It must have helped a lot to get the mood.
-EDIT-
Someone mentioned this didn't allow for discussion so I guess I'll tack this on. What experiences in games leaped out at you as having some angry voice acting that sounded real? You could use other emotions as well. Or on the other side, how many times has great voice acting been brought down by shoddy character animations? I am looking at you, Skyrim!
