Ridiculously Difficult Bosses. We've ALL had our share. You pick away at its monstrous health bar and try to dodge its ridiculously cheap attacks. Time after time, though, it curb stomps you American History X style. Then, it happens. In either a flash of genius or an accidental screwup, you find it. A cheap little trick. A stupid little tactic. Something simple. It completely wrecks his shit. You've completely destroyed this previously unstoppable juggernaut with a simple move. You have now facepalmed so hard you can feel the back of your skull.

What's your favourite "Wait a second, that WORKED?!" moment?

Mine is facing Jormungandr in Magicka. Giant snake, holds its head off the ground so you can't hit it until it's about to attack. I accidentally cast Grease on the ground in front of it, then set it on fire. It then proceeded to take off 7/8ths of its health bar by DIPPING ITS HEAD IN THE GREASE FIRE. Do that once more, and it's done.

Eh, not 'bosses' per se, that seems to be a very specific scenario I don't really come across. Mostly I just invoke a Guide Dang It [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/GuideDangIt] and then I know what to do.

However, in Fable 2/3, I loved doing ranged combat. Always have. Then in Fable 3 I put together Vortex+Anything just to watch a firey tornado tear up a town. But I didn't employ it in combat until hours later when I realized; Vortex knocks bitches down. Kind of OP when I can knock 90% of the enemies down and let the fire damage then, all the while I'm just charging up another hit.

Trying to beat the time challenge of 'The Cradle' in GoldenEye 64. Trevelyan threw a grenade which trapped in the room with him. I dropped down to end the level and boom the Cougar Magnum is mine.

Still can't do the Facility in 2:05 though...

Probably the final "Boss" in Mass Effect 2. I remember playing it and shooting the "boss" with my Revenant Rifle.

Then, for the hell of it I got out the cane and fired at the "Boss"'s weak spot.

I won. and I was like "WTF.... that's it?!?"...."well that blows"

Not much different from being able to convince the final boss to shoot himself in the fucking face.

Hilariously kneeing Cesare's balls over and over again to keep him down worked amazingly in that game. Did I mention it was hilariously cheap?

Fable: The Lost Chapters, I used to always die a couple of times during the final Jack of Blades fight, but then I had an archer character with Skorm's Bow and maxxed out multi-arrow. I've never seen a quicker boss fight!

Well mine isn't so much of a boss but when playing Starcraft 2 my entire team 3v3 team had been beaten to death and I was holding on by a thread and I managed to wipe out the entire enemy army with a handful of Dark Templars. I guess they didn't have any detection whatsoever.

Link's Awakening? The final boss goes through several forms, one of which can be killed in one hit with the boomerang. That's not how you're really supposed to do it, but screw you. I started this game ten years ago (as it turns out, there's also a way to make it unwinnable and I may have abandoned it a little) and I'm going to finish it right now.

Haha, oh wait. I've read the whole OP now. Magicka's a good one. My strategy for the fight with Khan: 1: Keep on being grabbed and killed. 2: Repeat until he starts the fight by jumping through the floor.

Anyone remember the dragon near Andrastes tomb in Dragon Age: Origins? Some say its an insanely hard battle, well I dont really think so. For some reason the dragon got stuck in a pillar and couldnt move, but it could still attack if I got close. So I just pulled my melee characters away from it and blasted it with arrows and magic from a distance. Seemed pretty easy to me

Not really a startgy but...

I always notice things in games that my friends miss, when there's somone over and it's a single player game, I normally direct, and my friend plays the game.

I can't tell you how many time I suggested a tatic or solotuion to a puzzle in the metroid prime series, that my friend thought was stupid, got stuck, then finally tried it an hour latter, and it works.

GTA IV
During this specific run I was going for a "Hitman"-style approach, meaning I tried to do every mission as efficient as possible.

I get the mission where Francis McCreary (the cop) sends you to kill a drugdealer in north Algonquin. I get there and check the surroundings, how can I do this without gunning down 40 gangmembers? That's when I notice the crane behind the buildings on the other side of the street. I climb up the crane, pull out my sniper rifle and take him out. Mission completed. I really didn't think it was going to work.

EDIT: Oh, wait, another one. Victory Boxing 3 (I think it was called Contender 2 in USA), an old boxing game for PS1. I beat basically everyone that I faced, until I fought a gigantic fatso. If I punched him in the face he would take damage, if I punched him in the body he'd just laugh at me. Seriously, everytime I punched him in the stomach he just held out his arms like he was waiting for a hug, it didn't even faze him. If he punched me however I got seriously rattled. He almost won on a TKO in the first round.

The three first rounds were embarrasing, I got knocked around and barely landed any offense whatsoever, losing badly on points. Frustrated, I charged him in the fourth round and punched him repeatedly in the gut thinking "it HAS to work!". It didn't, he still didn't take any damage, but he didn't punch me back. He just stood there laughing while my weak punches repeatedly punched his giant belly. So I continued until the round was over. I won the round on points. So I continued. For the rest of the match (10 rounds total). I won on points, he didn't land one punch in the final five rounds.

Final boss of Twilight Princess. Basically, after whittling down Ganon's health during the sword duel, it gets to a point where you clash blades and have to mash A to strike him down for good. I initiated this sequence many, many times but always failed, and had to do it again each time. Finally, I got frustrated, and screamed at the screen "JUST FUCKING DIE YOU PIECE OF SHIT!" And flailed the Wiimote about whilst demolishing the button.

As it happens, you were supposed to be shaking the Wiimote to defeat him. And that's how I won.

I also had one in Dead Rising 2:

You fight Sullivan, the security guard, atop a casino roof. Basically he pulls a gun and tries to shoot you from an elevated scaffold, and you have to either shoot him back, throw shit, or hit him. Having exhausted both of my machine guns filling him full of lead, I withdrew my Defilers - Fire Axes duct-taped to the head of a Sledgehammer - and started climbing up and lobbing them at him, before jumping down to retrieve them and do it again.

Every hit took down at least a seventh of his health, whereas the bullets might as well have been scraping the bar away with a toothpick splinter.

Needless to say, he went down after several axe wounds upon his person. I was pretty damn stunned, considering you're not even supposed to throw them.

Link to the Past. The one boss in the Theif's Den, Blind, killed me like twelve times. I got so pissed I almost deleted the game from my Wii's memory. The I remembered I had the staff that casts a barrier, so I went out, grabbed a green potion, for safety's sake, went back in, turned it on...

Well? How was I supposed to know that thing damaged most enemies? Killed him in three seconds and used the same strategy for every boss from there on.

In Persona 3, there's a boss named Fortune, and a boss named Strength. Fortune is a spinning wheel, and if you stop it on the right space, you can force the boss to inflict status effects on itself. One of these status effect is Fear.

One of the possible moves you can learn, is called Ghostly Wail. Ghostly Wail automatically kills any enemy in Fear.

I did not think it worked on Bosses.

When I re played Ratchet and Clank 3 and got to the part where you fight Klunk and I got the sniper-gun-thingy in Lv.5 I shot him 8 times then it was my victory...And I remembered him as a difficult boss.
