Dani Davis, who is queer, took to social media on March 24 and wrote a post about what she said happened while she was at work. The incident occurred on March 14 at the Walmart in Lake City, Florida. She noted she was a nearly seven-year employee of Walmart and holds several other part-time jobs, including the “joy and privilege" of tutoring "special-needs children as requested,” describing herself as a hard worker who has never been in trouble.

Around 8 p.m. on March 14, she wrote that she was alone in a stall in the women's restroom when she heard a man yelling.

“The voice was much louder than simply someone yelling in from the door. This man was fully IN the restroom, yelling something about” transgender women, Davis wrote.

Davis said the man yelled he was going to “beat" them and was going to “protect his wife/girlfriend from them” while his wife or girlfriend was pleading with him to stop and leave before he got into trouble.

Davis wrote she was scared and froze, not knowing if the man was going to physically attack her.

“I was the only one in there so it seemed pretty clear that he saw me enter the restroom and he assumed that I am trans because of my height,” Davis recalled. “It was terrifying and I wish no one else ever had an experience like that.”

The man eventually left, and Davis was able to leave the restroom and return to her workstation.
“My immediate supervisor came by and noticed that I was visibly shaken and emotional. After taking a few moments to calm myself down, I told her what had happened. I didn't go home since it wasn't long until my shift was done (10 p.m.),” Davis wrote. “Less than a week later, I was fired.”

The reason given for her termination was that she did not report the incident to a salaried management employee and, therefore, created a security risk.

“I took it to mean that I was the security risk because someone had mistaken me for trans,” Davis told the Washington Post.

Oh look, it's that thing when demonizing a group of people extends to everyone. Good thing women's sport is safe from this issue, huh?

Whatever, just wash your hands.
I'm suspicious of this story. It feels too much like an easy wrongful termination suit or even just a donation getter. Sure it seems like it could happen, but its also just a little too "perfect."

If businesses were smart enough to avoid wrongful termination suits, we'd never had wrongful termination suits to begin with.

All in all, this story is a lot more believable than the right's fearmongering of men transitioning to women so they can sneak into women's bathrooms.

I haven't heard of any cyber truck owners being arrested or fired from their jobs after people vandalized their vehicles.
I can fire up a Facebook post about it if you want, because that's all the evidence the news has about it is a Facebook post, those are never wrong. Though actual proof of Tesla vandalism just passed you by and didn't feel the need to post about it?

The only thing good to come out of transphobia was that it made me look like less of an asshole during that Olympic woman's boxing kerfuffle cause my response to that crying speech was " My sister in Christ you signed up for Olympic boxing".

A woman being accused of being a man because she is tall is the equivalent of being a "oppressed" cyber truck owner?

Like is it vandalism absolutely but hate crime, I mean that ass pull could circumnavigate the world so many times you have to name the prolapse Magellan.

9 out 10 chance that is just laminated bullshit gives "As a black man" vibes.

Businesses have a method of dealing with wrongful termination that is annoyingly effective, I forget the term but its when they write up an employee for a lot of minor infractions before firing them. If as the story makes it sound, they just fired her after a wrongful report like that then this should be the kinda case that lawyers salivate over since it seems like a really easy payday.

That's because the right wing fearmongering is retarded.

People are demonizing the whole group of Tesla owners that can and have been Jews.

I'm not going to believe an article based on a Facebook post regardless of content of the story. A reporter/journalist is supposed go and confirm things, not just browse Facebook and make articles based on that.

You can question the validity story and methods.

But for all the derailment topic Tesla owner oppression is a choice.

I suspect that what Walmart would do in response is point to somewhere in the employee guidelines that says whenever a customer is threatening violence it is supposed to be reported to management so management can deal with it as appropriate (such as asking them to leave the store or calling police) and not because someone wrongly accused her of being trans. That would align with the claimed reason for termination.

I find it really weird that any company would fire an employee over the described incident. I'd be guessing that they've been wanting to fire her for awhile and it was just the last little thing in a line of little things to where it added up to enough to get fired per whatever requirements Walmart has to go through.

Don't you find it funny the outrage from people here is always on the things that happen that are squarely in their political beliefs? Where's the thread about people outraged about all the Tesla vandalism, that's much worse in overall harm caused yet this Facebook story is thread worthy?

Companies are not infallible and make dumb calls. Pending the details we have seems like massive supervisor slip and from the post Walmart is rectifying it.

I find it funny that you could just make that thread yourself. Like you have one about UK banning katanas. I guess that is more important than vandalized Teslas to you by your logic.

I'd find it believable that very occasionally some dumb manager might fire a transperson for possibly using the "wrong" bathroom due to their company ditching DEI and totally misunderstanding that. But an actual woman in the women's bathroom, that's super weird.

That was to do with the absurdness of it.
