Eh, this ain't going anywhere. Just a bunch of hot air by folks wanting to score brownie points with soccer moms and retired people. I just wish they'd show this degree of zealotry against truly despicable porn-related stuff like child porn and human trafficking.

MarsAtlas said:
Nothing to be worried about. If you want to worry about porn worry about the health of the industry, not whether or not the government will take measures to restrict it (which wouldn't work anyways, see: prostitution). Tube sites severely hurt the industry and its feared to be causing long-term stagnation and shrinkage. If you want to worry about porn worry about that. The Patreon money that people use to make porn is going to dry up someday as well. If you're so concerned about porn look into ways you can support pornography creators and distributors rather than worry about something that would never happen and wouldn't work anyways. Do something like turn off AdBlock next time you visit damesgettingdestroyedbycarrotstube.com so that it can make ad revenue or give a shoutout to somebody's Patreon when you get the opportunity.
To be fair, some of the porn industry's woes can be blamed solely on themselves. I'm sure part of the reason why so many people use AdBlock on porn sites is that they tend to use the worst kinds of malware and virus-laden ads (and that's not even getting into the multitude of childhoods ruined by seeing one's favorite cartoon character getting pounded in the ass).

Are you being serious? I want to say you aren't, but it seems so over the top it may be.

let me express my grievances in order
1: while freedom of speech is an important principle to protect i would not classify the pornographic industry as that. it is higly abusive and utterly unscrupulous, willing to go to any inhumane extrme in order to turn a profit.
2: the statement "blueballing should be a crime" is higly problematic as what hetrosexaul men call "blueballing" usually boils down to a woman not wanting to have intercourse with them. the coersion of consent by any means is illegal and should be in a civilized society
3: it seems three months can't pass on the internet without some pack of hetrosexaul manchildren complaining about how feminist illuminati want to castrate them whenever a creator of content decides to retroactively revoke sexualized content of women. i'm pretty sure teenage girls wouldn't issue death threats if a new version of twilight was rleased where Edward and Jacob never took their shirts off
Oh boy. This thread isn't going to end well.

So, before we start... If you're here for some fun porno talk, please skip this post

So, first, lets start with your bizarre and insistent usage of the word 'heterosexual.' For starters, here's a definition.

Heterosexual - sexually attracted to people of the opposite sex

That's it. It's not a curse word or a group of evil people opposed to your point of view. It's just people who are sexually attracted to, and often have sex with, people of the opposite sex. Not only that, but pornographic consumption is not limited to heterosexuals, or even men.

Second, while there are some alarming aspects to the pornographic industry, it's not the pack of villains you keep implying it is. Even if it was, that's not grounds for making the sale and production of pornographic material illegal - It's grounds for increased or changed regulations on the industry, which I think many people would support. To make a significant case for making it illegal, you'd have to prove either a) there's something fundamentally dangerous about photography or recording people having sex (There isn't), b)there's something fundamentally dangerous about viewing pornographic material (Has never been proven, despite some pretty impressive efforts to do so), and c) that it would even be possible to stop the wide spread production of pornographic material (Which is impossible).

Third, blue balling is when you are your 'ready to blow' but can't for some reason or another. While it's often used in the manner you describe, please, check context before throwing a hissy fit. Nothing in the original post, or any other post here, is even close to suggesting what you're trying to imply.

Fourth, no one in here is talking about rape but you. So stop.

Fifth, no one was talking about feminist, except for you. The people who put this forward, if you had bothered to check, were all men. The people ridiculing it in the video were, wait for it...

Wait...

For...

It...

Women.

Sixth, you may be surprised by the Twilight fandom.

---

Ok, now that we're done with that, some general things on 'prohibition,' since there seems to be some people upset by the comparison.

While it's true that the illegal sale of pornography is unlikely to result in running gun battles with the police, there are some parallels to be drawn, which I think was the point.

1. Pornography, like alcohol, is trivial to produce. If you have a phone and genitals, you can make and distribute pornography. Hell, the genital part is optional sometimes.

2. Like alcohol, it's production is almost impossible to stop.

3. The cause for making both illegal is/was largely on moral grounds.

Perhaps a better parallel to draw would be another aspect of the sex industry - Prostitution. Prostitution was made illegal for much the same reason that people seem to want to get rid of pornography - It was poorly regulated, had a tendency towards bad hiring practices, and worst of all, it was 'immoral.' And now, decades after it was made illegal, the industry is still booming. It's more horrible aspects have been magnified, like most things driven towards the black side of the market, slavery/coercion is rampant, and even the people who are 100% into it of their own free will are denigrated by society, imprisoned, and suffer from abuse from clients because they can't go to the police. Making it illegal hasn't helped in the slightest.

Would making it legal and regulating it heavily fix all of that? No. Would it be a damn site better then letting pimps beat prostitutes to death in gutters and letting sexually transmitted diseases run rampant? Fuck. Yes.

And you know how those ads became the mainstay? Because adblocker users made it untenable for anyone else to advertise on those sites. Because adblock kills off advertising revenue, few even remotely reputable advertisers will touch most platforms in the first place. People have gotten bugs and spyware from sites like Blip, and for a while there you could get them off The Escapist apparently (though the tech team, if contacted, would kill those specific ads). Never experienced that myself, just the Escapist causing my browser to crash. Repeatedly.

The point being that this really isn't porn's fault. It may be a problem browsing modern pornographic sites, but it's a problem because people really wanted a free lunch. Adblockers are basically a vicious circle, and it really does show in media like porn. And some people don't give a crap, and there's nothing any such appeal with do for them. But if you do, it's worth keeping in mind.

On the other hand, the damage may already be done.

I don't know or even really care, because I'll be taken care of either way. But it's more interesting than the idea that we're going to ban the pr0nz.

They aren't banning porn, they just want to educate kids on it and the dangers of getting addicted to spanking the monkey or... flicking the bean? What is the female equivalent of spanking the monkey, anyway? Regardless, that's what Utah is trying to do. It'll backfire wondrously, I bet.

You also had to hope that it wasn't a porno of your mom and your dad from when they were younger and not immediately recognizableso that you didn't end up wanking to your own conception.
Welp, thanks. Two hours of my evening just opened up.

I was running out of lotion and tissue paper anyway.

Also is "spanking the monkey" any actual indicator of genitalia? It always seemed like a neutral way of describing it.
'Spanking the monkey' refers to an organ grinder and his monkey assistant. The euphemism is based on the monkey 'getting up to his own business' (An erection) and the organ grinder 'spanking' him to sort the problem out (Masturbating). So in it's original context, it seems to be male specific.

That being said, I've heard it used by both sexes, so I think this is a case of 'time marching on,' so yes, I'd say it's unisex.

Right, and ephasising that word doesn't mean it's the slur in the sentence. I would think "impotent" would be.

"Impotent whining" by heterosexuals seems to be the issue here. Not that heterosexuals themselves are the slur.

And again, the issue here seems to be "manchildren," not "heterosexual." This seems merely to denote that the primary group in question is heterosexual. Do you expect the group complaining about blueballing to not be predominantly heterosexual males? Ignoring the overall issue I have with the concept of "blueballing" in the first place, I would expect it to be an issue overwhelmingly involving straight men.

The clear implication (To me at least) is that pornography is a heterosexual mans business, along with associating some fairly vile behavior to heterosexuals in general. If I'm reading these post wrong, please, some other people band together and tell me.
Generally in the English language, these terms are used to add specificity. You seem to be doing the opposite.

I'm also puzzled as to why it wouldn't be considered a "heterosexual man's" business, as straight men are pretty dominant in its production and consumption.

Finally, the bits quoted here seem to indicate the rather histrionic reaction of the internet (even "ban porn" is over the top, since even the video clarifies this isn't an attempt to do that), not specifically anything about porn. Maybe you quoted the wrong bits you thought I should read, but there is a response going on that's overwhelmingly from heterosexual males as far as I can tell, and I'm not sure how that means that porn as a whole indicates malekind.

The only one of these three points that addresses the industry doesn't speak specifically to men, either.

I was responding to a comment about how 'blueballing should be a crime' is a vile statement that automatically perpetrates the idea that rape/sexual coercion, when the context of the original statement was quite obviously in jest, as was the whole topic.
You can insist it's clearly in jest, but the poster you're quoting has already been accused of demonstrating Poe's Law, and I would argue that the original post is also difficult to distinguish from a serious statement, especially having seen guys like Warcorpse flip their shit on camera over similar issues. The fact that blueballing is so routinely used for trivial shit should bolster their point, especially given how often it's used unironically.

I mean, we've literally had people on this site complain that their manhood is threatened if a girl beats them at something, or using the poster's example, seriously had issues compared to castration. You can say it's clearly a joke, but it looks like something that's been seriously stated too many times for me to just say "lol."

I mean, for crying out loud, gaming just had #buttgate. This was a "scandal" that was so absurd it really should have been a joke. And yet, here we are, and here I am asking how do you even calibrate for obvious humour on the internet, when there are people using a poem about the horror of silence in Nazi Germany to protest the removal of a single pose in a video game?

Overreacting seems to be what the internet does best.

Down on blue balls! Down on blue balls! Blueballing should be a crime!!
Impotent hetrosexual overreacting outh to be a crime. Why should an industry that violates children to titilate the fetishes of degeneratees be so utterly sacrosanct? why do hetrosexuals allways whine about every last bit off sexualization being removed no matter how detrimental, despicable or outright abominable it may be
I... uh...

3: it seems three months can't pass on the internet without some pack of hetrosexaul manchildren complaining about how feminist illuminati want to castrate them whenever a creator of content decides to retroactively revoke sexualized content of women. i'm pretty sure teenage girls wouldn't issue death threats if a new version of twilight was rleased where Edward and Jacob never took their shirts off
This wasn't even a serious thread. It was over the top, over blown and over... cumbed(?). Just a bit of fun. Yeah a serious debate can be had about porn and everything surrounding it but today was just about silly fun.

Escapist, let's just have fun once in a while.

You people have it easy with porn nowadays. Back in my day, you had to sneak into your parents room and find your dads porn stash just to get a view of a boob and those crappy VHS tape with awful audio and you had to rewind or fast forward over to the good bits and making sure you left it at the scene you first found it in, so your dad isn't suspicious. NOW you just type "boobs" into Google and there we go. So damn easy!!
You also had to hope that it wasn't a porno of your mom and your dad from when they were younger and not immediately recognizableso that you didn't end up wanking to your own conception.
Oh dear GOD!! Those who are making those homemade, phone quality POV porno today and posting it online, may have a serious problem 15-20 years down the line if they decide to have kids because those little ones will could see mommy and daddy at it. Either with each other or just at it with others. So many, "Wife banging best friend/black guy" homemade porno out there. EWWWWWWWWWW... HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

So too clear things up about the "blueballing" bit.

It was a joke. A joke. An over exaggerated joke.

Wow. Did not know it would cause tension. Down with fun?
