The part that always got me with the Leeroy Jenkins video was meeting people who thought it was a real raid and not a staged video made for laughs. The conversation usually went something like this.Anstrup said:Wow, thats just stupid. And a little weird. But thanks for the info.Patrick_and_the_ricks said:It all started from this video, after this it became a fairly famous meme. It's kinda dead now though.Anstrup said:In my country 16 is just within the legal range.
I don't get the Angie Jenkins jokes, someone please fill me in?
"Have you seen that Leeroy Jenkins video? It's hilarious!"
"Yeah, it was funny the first time."
"Man, that guy was an idiot!"
"You know it's fake right? They weren't really raiding, they were just making a video for laughs. There's lots of tells, like saying Leeroy the plate-wearing paladin needed the cloth shoulders that drop? Or how the guy recording is pulling the entire room while he's yelling at Leeroy? That guild, Pals for Life, has a couple other videos on their website, the one they cracked me up with is when they recorded raiding Thunder Bluff, mind controlling players than making them jump off the bridge. They even had gnome mages jump down with them for like a sky-cam view of them plummeting to their deaths. That was funny."
At that point they looked at me like I just informed them Santa Claus is fake and I ate the Easter Bunny.
On topic, I think the whole thing is messed up no matter how you look at it. 21 years is a gigantic gap.
