Warner Bros. Offers Arkham City Costume as Green Lantern Blu-Ray Bonus

There aren't many people who know more about fear than Batman, and in Arkham City he's got the clothes to prove it.

If you needed an incentive to invest in the Blu-Ray edition of the Green Lantern movie - and let's face it, most people will - then an exclusive Arkham City [http://www.amazon.com/Batman-Arkham-City-Xbox-360/dp/B002I0JAVK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1314288441&sr=8-1 ] costume is a pretty good start. If you're willing to shell out for the movie - and you intend on playing the game on the PS3 - you can get Batman's "Sinestro Corps" costume.

The Sinestro Corps is a rival to the Green Lanterns that uses the yellow energy of fear, rather than the green energy of willpower. When the Corps was looking to fill out its ranks, a yellow power ring sought out Batman, figuring that he knew a thing or two about scaring people.

Fortunately - at least for the criminals of the galaxy - the yellow ring rejected Batman after discovering his immense willpower and previous exposure to a green power ring. Not before gifting him with some snazzy new threads though, even if he was only wearing them for a few seconds.

The costume, which apparently grants Batman "the ability to fight crime with the help of the yellow power of fear," can be used in both the game's campaign mode, and in the challenge rooms. It almost sounds like the skin grants some kind of special ability, but I'd guess that that's really just flowery language to make it sounds more appealing. Unfortunately, you're going to have to be a really big Arkham City fan - or a big Green Lantern fan - for the skin to even begin to be worth the money.

Batman: Arkham City comes out for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 on October 18th.

Everyone thought I was crazy when I said I enjoyed The Green Lantern movie. Now, I'm getting a movie I enjoy, PLUS a Batman skin! WHO'S LAUGHING NOW?

Seriously, though, I wasn't going to be getting this on Blu Ray, wanting to save the extra few bucks, but this'll get me to upgrade. Sure, it's just a skin, but forking over extra cash for a useless piece of crap relating to one of your favorite characters is what being a die hard fan is all about, right?

I'm already spending $100 on the Collector's Edition. A waste of money, this is.

I have a better idea. How about purchasing Arkham City gives you the option to watch Green Lantern with Hal Jordan dressed as Batman?

The costume is 90% CGI anyway, right? :)

This Man/Women/Alien/Robot/5th option wins.

Its a bit of a stretch, I haven't seen GL (massive fan of the comics) but it must be as bad as everyone says it is if they are trying to jump on the Arkam crazy train to shift their blu-ray.

HAHAHAHAH! Warner Brothers, you would have to PAY ME to even let that PoS Bluray in my house! If you think I'd give you 10 cents for the worst comic book superhero movie this side of Wolverine & Catwoman for a frikkin' SKIN, well... you're just tripping!

Seriously, though, WB, seek help. This "promotion" proves you all belong in Arkham Asylum yourselves.

It's not that Green Lantern was a bad film, the problem is that it wasn't a good film. Nothing at all screamed "aaah, it's terrible!" but nothing really got you either. It's a pretty so-so movie with some decent parts, but nothing really awesome. It had potential, and that sucks, but they mess up the cannon where it really isn't needed.

The CGI works in the way that everything the GL's do and wear is created by their rings, so it actually felt "natural" for this franchise. Still, the suits are kind of weird, but I found it about as entertaining as "First Flight."

As for the game, it should have played like AA instead of GOW. I actually might enjoy the Captain America game, but the Green Lantern game doesn't look that fun, and I'm a HUGE GL fan. Oh well.

The suit, for me, isn't worth it. I've got a terrible SD TV so there's no reason for me to get Bluray discs at the moment, and by the time I have a nice TV, I will probably have beaten Arkham City.

So then I guess the alternate costumes are usable in the story, judging by that summary. Very nice. That's something I was concerned about.

Um, but anyway....I find it amusing that WB's offering something for a good product, with a bad product. It's almost like they know their movie flopped. Even if I did plan on playing this on my PS3, and even if I wanted that costume, I certainly wouldn't buy GL on DVD let alone Blu-Ray.

But idk, at least the costume is distinct.

Um, you all do realize that this "exclusive" skin will be on PSN in a matter of months for about $2.00 right? All exclusive pre-order and bonus content ends up on PSN at inexpensive prices.

the movie was okay, it's just that the actual action only took part in the last 1/4 of the movie since they took so long explaining everything and setting the story up.

Or I could do the sensible thing and just fucking steal a copy. It's not like Wal-Mart is going to notice anything missing from it's trash bins out back.

In a seriousness, this is another one of the reasons why I'm glad have a friend who still works at Blockbuster. I get all the "exclusive" codes I want, and they usually throw them away otherwise.

It's a smart move to force people to buy that crap, and it sounds like a pretty damn cool skin. Still, not in any way worth the money, or more importantly, supporting that crappy movie.
