Didn't help much with DX 2 didn't help much with the SDK even tho he stayed in dev speak mode well after any hope of it being out was squashed..... proby not entirely his fault but frankly I don't care if you put your name on something and don't make it worth while you are lost to me.JEBWrench said:Well, can't argue now.

You really have no idea who Warren Spector is, do you?
And how is your life changing experience any more valid than his?Donnyp said:Must have been a shitty life. The only time and i mean only time my life has ever been changed is when i first picked up a guitar.John Funk said:"changed my life,"
I'm sorry are we supposed to take the opinion of a random forum poster with likely no experience in games or hardware development, who has almost certainly never actually seen let alone experienced the 3DS...Odjin said:What bit him please? "fake" 3D good? Sorry, but he must have been on drugs when he did that. Fake 3D is the biggest crap in existence even if you can get it working without glasses (at exactly ONE spot which is even totally at the wrong place for anybody except a handful of people!). Only "true" 3D is worth it and this simply requires additional equipment. So yes, 3DS "is" a huge gimmick.
"High-powered graphics?" Okay, it has better graphics but calling that life changing is a bit far fetched
"A ton of great-looking games from classic series?" Since when are rehashes great and life changing? Granted classics are nice but why buy them twice? (ah I get it, to rip money out of customers pockets... it prints money!)
"Glasses-free 3D?" As mentioned above, fad, gimmick, BAD! That's all there is to say about this 3D fad going on. If you've ever seen true 3D you're going to puke over this fake 3D crap going on. Hurts the eyes and brain and doesn't look good in the end. But I guess if you don't know how the "real" deal works you can consider any crap gold
Not gonna happen. Some of us 3D haters aren't hating because we think it's a useless fad, we're hating because we can not, and never will, be able to see 3D. You need both eyes working together to perceive 3D, period. There are a lot of people who don't have that, and for us, 3D will never be worth anything. Hell, I can't even see real life in 3D, I doubt the 3DS is going to do anything for me, except maybe look blurry.HaraDaya said:Hopefully all the 3D haters will have the same revelation. You can turn the 3D off...which I'm sure has been mentioned endlessly.Royas said:Not gonna happen. He's a game developer. Games are literally his life. So I'd say yeah, probably.Donnyp said:Because Guitar IS my life now. The first time i touched a guitar i knew i would be playing in 5-6 years. That no matter how Bad things get i have my faithful Guitar to cheer me up. No matter how shitty life is i will always be happy with that instrument in my hands. Can he say the same thing about games. Can he pick up and controller and be happy and sunshine like i am with a guitar? Probably not.fletch_talon said:And how is your life changing experience any more valid than his?Donnyp said:Must have been a shitty life. He is a game developer, its what he's devoted his life to and assumedly games are what he loves.
I could say that you picking up a guitar is a pathetic thing to have changed your life, but I won't because clearly it means something to you, regardless of how little I think of it.
If that's the case, why can't the same thing be said for Warren Spector? He's devoted his life to making, playing, and dealing with games. I'm sure he feels the same way about games then you do about your guitar.Donnyp said:I will make this VERY clear and say this once and only once. Guitar is my Life. If someone Broke one of my guitars. I'd Kill his Family. I have nothing to care for except my guitars. This "Hobby" you say is my life. Without it i would have no reason to live. There is a Handful of people i would put before my guitars. And i mean like 5 or 6 people tops. Every living thing on this planet holds less meaning to me then even my Broken Guitars. When you say i'm "strumming your guitar in your spare time" to me its more then that. Its Keeping my sanity. Without this i would lose it. I have come close and am falling into darkness and the only thing keeping me from going over the edge is this Hobby. When you go live my life you will understand. But before that happens you have to Forget EVERYTHING you know and hold dear. Lose you mind only to come back and see one single thing worth living for. Then you will understand why the Guitar Changed my life.fletch_talon said:He's a game developer. Games are literally his life. So I'd say yeah, probably.Donnyp said:Because Guitar IS my life now. You seriously think your hobby (I assume you're not a professional musician) is comparable to this man's career?
You honestly think that strumming your guitar in your spare time is a comparable experience to something that will have a huge effect on the way games are designed and played. New technology gives him more tools to work with, a new outlet for his creativity. Games are his passion, they're his life, they're something he creates.
I can't imagine anyone needs more justification than that, but if you really don't get it, just keep in mind, to others, a guitar is just an instrument. Sure as hell not a life changing experience.
Thanks I appreciate you helping enforce the point I was trying to make. Unfortunately I suggest we just let it go. He's a hypocrite who seems to think the world revolves around him and that his misfortune trumps that of anyone else.Radeonx said:If that's the case, why can't the same thing be said for Warren Spector? I'm red/brown, purple/blue, and green/yellow color blind, but that doesn't make me a hater of all things that hasn't taken people like me into consideration.Royas said:Not gonna happen. News for you... I'm a game-dev too. But I get your stance so no sense in discussing with you anymore. See you.fletch_talon said:And how is your life changing experience any more valid than his?Donnyp said:Must have been a shitty life. Or do we take the opinion of the well known, popular and successful professional game developer who has had a first hand look at the 3DS and what it can do...
hmmm... Gimme a second, this is a tricky one.
Hate is really too strong a word. I just don't have any use for it, and don't want to find myself paying more for games because the publishers/developers spent time and money to add a feature that I can't even use. I believe it was EA's people who already mentioned that 3D games might cost an extra premium. Might have been another publisher, but it was definitely said. Doesn't really bother me, so long as non-3D versions of games are available with the usual pricing.HaraDaya said:I'm red/brown, purple/blue, and green/yellow color blind, but that doesn't make me a hater of all things that hasn't taken people like me into consideration.Royas said:Not gonna happen.
