WASD keys not working in games. The keyboard is fine. This is happening on two different Windows 7 64 bit systems. I tried fdisking and rebuilding one in case it was a virus and it didn't help.

Anybody else going through this? Any advice? Have you heard any news about a problem Microsoft is trying to fix?

Yes. But many, particularly the WASD keys, are not, and they Work find AS is Demonstrated by this post. The keys are fine, there is something screwy about using them in my games.

This is happening on my kid's computer, mine after I wiped the drive. Very frustrating!

So some keys work in games, but not all. Yeah, that could be pretty annoying.

What kind of keyboard is it? Just your average keyboard or does it have some sort of gimmick?

You could try re-installing DirectX (DirectInput is part of DirectX, and handles input for games). Or swapping keyboards with another machine.

What games are you trying to play, specifically?
Crisis, Battlefield 2, Bioshock 2, Frontline. I tried my son's computer and it is doing the same thing. I have a PS2 keyboard, he has a USB. I removed the partition on my hard drive and rebuilt the PC in case it was a computer virus and that didn't help, so I'm worried it has something to do with Windows 7.

I'll see if I can reinstall DirectX.

I'm assuming you already checked the in-game settings to make sure movement isn't bound to the arrow keys?
